  1. Yey!! got the registration through for the Scammell! 728 YUD:yay: Just got a few little jobs to do such as a pipe on the diesel return, fitting the mirrors and some side reflectors. I've also got to drain the diesel tank and refil it with white diesel:argh: Anyway its all registerd and insured so hopefully in week or two when i can afford the fuel..........:drive:
  2. i own a clarke one (the one with the removable needle attacthment and chisels) and used it for years. however it wasen't till i bought a dedicated needle gun made by Gerber that i realized how much air the clarke one used. i have also noticed all the other clarke tools i've used at work ect all seem to to use huge amounts of air. To sum up i was happy with the Clarke one till i bought a better one
  3. I've been looking at those too. I really fancy one but funds and time are a tad short at the mo. Her indoors is rather keen too they are the perfect camper conversion. just need to get rid of that orible green paint :cool2:
  4. Shiney... When you going to oull your finger out and put it in the truck:D Fingers crossed mine might have a run out soon:drive: if the DVLA get their act together. I fired it up yesterday and my mate thought i was outside his house... he lives a mile away from me so i might need a silencer...NOT:whistle:
  5. I was hoping you would say that I just thought i would ask as the oil pump was in bits and god only knows how many miles it did without the pump running. However the new set up delivers oil all the time the engine is running even when staitionary. Just need to sort out an oil cooler but for now will have to rely on the 30 foot of pipe running to and from the engine to help cooling. A bowman cooler should do the trick:)
  6. Not a fix or a work around but a bit of a question really..... just drained the rear diff oil out of the explorer and found it rather brown and muddy but hardly a trace of any bronze just the odd fleck in the drain pan here and there. However when i poke my finger up the drain hole there is a slight burr on one edge of the crown wheel, there is no slack in the drive at all. but just wonderd if this is normal ware after 27671 miles. Any hoo have just refilled with API 140 mineral oil and i aint changing the bloomin diff at this stage in the game.
  7. He'll never sell his scammell for more than scrap value now it's got an american engine in it.......... Oh sorry you were talking about the old meadows:cool2:
  8. whats happening here then all gone a bit quiet again.........any more progress? Have you got it in yet?
  9. Do a job.....Make a job.....Something went wrong...
  10. Why not just run it on filterd waste cooking oil? I'm running the landy on it and it loves it! Add some diesel in winter to help it fire up in the morning. I'm going to run the scammell on it too, It was built in 1950 and the quality of fuel back then was hit and miss to say the least. A biG old engine with a huge in line injector pump should have no worries on veg oil. This bio crap seems a waste of time if your running an old Compression ignition engine. Diesel is just the name for the fuel not the type of engine.
  11. I hope thats a genuine steering relay and not a S*&tpart one. The genuine one is fine the other will kill you.
  12. What a sad sad day:-( Now if it's getting in your way i can look after it for you:cool2:
  13. Thanks I've had it about 4 years now so realy looking forward to driving on the road. hopefully running on veg oil. I can't afford the fuel at the current prices. slight mix up at the scammell club so they only sent of the forms last week:nut: hey ho no rush
  14. It would have been a right pain in the ass to run the winch cable down the chassis leg to the front for self recovery:-)
  15. If your after a compressor Aldi are getting some in next week at £79. I used a similar sized one to spray my landy 10 years ago. also used it to waxoil the chasis too
  16. That looks cheap. Don't you go making too much extra work I want to see it in the scammell running. Have you got my meadows out yet?
  17. I think i would go for the V12 detriot 2 stroke diesel like this one if i had to. But only cos it's bigger than yours. sounds quite nice at only 2500 RPM Something went wrong...
  18. Fire it up!!! but you might have to weld that fan bracket on cos i don't think that G camp is gonna hold up:red: Infact best leave the belt off that fan looks a tad sharp as it sets off accross the workshop floor:laugh: Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it Start it
  19. Spanking!!! Are we having a test run on the floor before popping it in?:cool2:
  20. Very nice, In fact If i win the lottery i might have to build one just like it. Great pictures too i always like to see them working. I always thought an AEC militant would benefit from a Martian crane and winch.
  21. I suppose thinking about it you could drop the whole rear cradle that the meadows sits in and drop the back end down. I don't suppose it matters if your not putting it back and fitting a different mounting arrangement. Depends how many times you need to plonk it in and out i order to get the thing lined up and tack welded / drilled and bolted ect

    Fuel

going to start filtering wast veg oil ready for the Scammell. You can ues 2500 liters without paying duty. Need to look into regestering with the relavent people first. I'm pretty sure the old Meadows will burn anything
  23. I really like the yellow wrecker with what looks like a martian crane on it. Could you tell us a bit more about it mabey some more piccys in action?
  24. I've got these two if i get really stuck:D But its amazing what you can do with just a jack and a beam and pull lift.A good set of rollers is handy too
