  1. You should really read the book "Fetch Felix" to get an in depth insight to what went on, mandatory reading if you ask me. R
  2. It has been delayed a bit, I jumped the gun, silly me R
  3. Some extra info and footage here http://hmcsojibwa.blogspot.ca/2012/05/raw-camera-footage-from-jetty-6-may-26.html R
  4. Sadly I wont be able to go see this but I heard about it last year when on holiday in the area. http://www.portstanleynews.com/details/headline.aspx?menu=1024_News_News_Ojibwa+Set+to+Arrive+on+September+8th R
  5. Was what I knew as Central Vehicle Depot Ashchurch ever called Ashchurch Depot Storage in a later life? That might be ADS. R
  6. Just a quick note, if you get a chance to buy one of the two crane variants, cheaper than a flatbed, which is unlikely, you should know that the deck lengths are not the same! I know our CALM is shorter by 2 feet than a cargo. R
  7. From what I have seen over the years you might be better of going to see Crouch for a vehicle, they will go over them for you with a degree of responsibilty. Withams are just sellers and wholesalers of the vehicles. That is what I see from this distance. R
  8. Be aware,if you get a problem with the starter not working properly it can be masking a problem of battery voltage. We have had that with CVRT / Stormer a few times. R
  9. Welcome from another transplanted Brit a few provinces to the east of you. Is your Ferret a Canadian one? R
  10. Are all three of those privately owned? What happened to the myth that they all went to the Jordanians? R
  11. How do you say "told you so mate" in Russian? R
  12. I have some familiarity with the commanders vehicles. There were only a limited number around and I know a couple of people here own them. My question is this, were the British military the only military user? R
  13. NOS Not quite what you are describing. It is very obvious between 40 and 50 mph and the cab physically lifts. R
  14. You make a good point Richard about the quality of the diff oil. That truck gets serviced off site. I'm sure they are using a commercial grade oil of the same viscosity but as you point out it may not be compatible with what you call "yellow metal". R
  15. I'm interested to hear about adjusting pressure, what is the max you would run? What is the logic behind adjusting up and down, is it to change the point of balance of the tyre? Has standing the vehicle for considerable time done this? What can be done to prevent it in the future? No comments about copper residue in the diff? R
  16. Mark, Nice truck, shame someone gave it a blow over matt paint job, she deserves to be back in DBG, like you need another task! Maybe there is a woman in your life with an artistic inclination and attention to detail who likes to paint who could perform the repaint? I was witness to an Abbot pack change performed by the NLBA crew at Beltring either in '97 or 2000 and was impressed as to how the Militant was a very precise bit of kit and can see how it differs from the Ward when doing finicky jobs with close tolerances. Marmite, thanks for the thread link. R
  17. Richard, good point, yes we are on the newer tyres not the bar treads. I am still thinking that the tyre being out of balance is capable of imparting such a shake, just in a general principle. My clue is that the steering wheel shakes a little in time with the cab shake. Any idea on the copper material in the diff oil? R
  18. Our Bedford CALM (crane lorry mounted) has developed a shake between 40 and 50 mph. We have had a go at swapping wheels and tyres around which has calmed things down a bit. One was out of round it would appear. We also have dropped and replaced the oil in the front diff and found a copper residue in the oil. Th shake induced is an up and down rythm which still leads me to look back at tyres. Does anyone have any thoughts and comments? Regards Robin
  19. Well Snapper, seeing as how you are offering to buy the first round at Timmy's, make mind a medium double double and have them double cup it please old chap. R
  20. Mark, Interesting to read of your new purchase and the reasons behind it. Interested to see the pictures. R
  21. Got to ask, where did it come from? R
