  1. I didn't know anything about this one. Can anybody enlighten me? https://www.kivells.com/agricultural-livestock-heritage/sales/heritage-sale-dingles-steam-village#
  2. I think that is a tractor wheel. Interesting collection of stuff.
  3. That is a Jeffery Quad that was used by the French as a portee for artillery. You can just see the bulge in the roof to take the barrel. Thanks. Tim
  4. Another one has just turned up and sold in Springfield Missouri. Looks very complete and would not take a lot to get it running. How much did it sell for I hear you ask? The heady sum of $3,000. Well that's my pension plan scuppered then.
  5. There was a really good article on this Renault in a recent CMV. Well I really enjoyed it, but then I would of course. Tim
  6. I would really like that. Time to buy another lottery ticket.
  7. There seems to be a run of Pierce Arrow trucks coming up for sale recently (well five, anyway - does five equal a run?). Here is an online auction for number five (courtesy of Marcel) http://bid.aumannauctions.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/15929/lot/2193432/?url=%2Fview-auctions%2Fcatalog%2Fid%2F15929%3Fpage%3D2 Asking prices have been all over the place so it will be interesting to see what this one makes. Bidding has reached the heady sum of £500.
  8. Well done. Super photos. Weather looks horrible. Must have made it a bit unpleasant to drive in.
  9. The motor museum at Gaydon is having a military show on the w/end of 30th September/1st October. More information is available here: https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/events/british-military-weekend Free entry for military vehicle drivers + 1 passenger. It might become an annual event.
  10. Could only manage the one day but enjoyed everything I saw. Met plenty of old friends too. Also met forum member Cel over from Belgium with his family. He recognised me and I thought it was Jack. Introduced him to Steve and he also thought it was Jack. Very funny. Anyway, it was great to catch up. Nice to see Ians Liberty with the body almost finished now. It goes at quite a pace. Also saw Mr Bradys Napier which also seemed to be very fast.
  11. No MV's in the line up but lots of interesting early cars and trucks including a 1910 Knox. http://www.vanderbrinkauctions.com/auctions_pictures.php?page=1&detail=214
  12. Yes, thanks for posting that. Very interesting stuff, Tim
  13. Possibly. But I believe that the end of the leather straps were sometimes cut, reversed and then reattached so that the end of the strap once it goes through the buckle is still shiny side up. When Mark did our leather on the Dennis straps he did this automatically without us asking him to do it as it was how he thought it would have been done.
  14. I see that the Latil has been sympathetically restored: http://landships.activeboard.com/t63837026/latil-truck-displayed-at-the-2017-rand-classic-car-show-13-0/ Looks really quite a nice job.
  15. I just visited the Commercial Transport museum in Leyland. I see they have the model of J made by Thornycroft and which was I think on display at the Science Museum some years ago. The museum is quite dark so I had to use the flash which created a little reflection.
  16. I think I have seen a photo of one of these before. Used for aircraft recovery? Can anybody shed some more light on this?
  17. For this year the North Oxfordshire and Cotswolds Area of the MVT had their annual road run to Springhill Lodge camp which is I understand an ex POW camp and then ex DP camp, followed by a visit to Northwick Park which is an ex military hospital and DP camp. Both sites were quite remarkable to see and in varying states of preservation We had about 20 vehicles on the run this year which was far easier to manage than the normal 40 to 50. The weather was great, but the heavens opened when we arrived at our lunch stop and it stopped just as we got ready to leave. The Lord moves in mysterious ways. It was a great day out. Here are some photos in no particular order. One of the DPs refused resettlement and still lived here until 1985
  18. Yes, that is what I heard as well. The conversion work was very professionally done. The owner is a forum member so he might wish to comment when he gets back from W&P.
  19. I didn't know that he owned a Jeep. Love his cartoons. Greatest cartoonist ever.
