  1. It in Japan, hence 'Japanese collector'
  2. It seems a Japanese collector has got a hold of a Morris CS8- anybody happen to know who owned it?
  3. I believe the owner is still fighting the case in court. The tank is stored within some German barracks.
  4. Those belong to the Weald Foundation. They are heading off to Bovington to be displayed at Tankfest.
  5. http://sw.co.uk/auctions/current/private-collection-of-wheeled-and-tracked-military-vehicles-525/by,ordering?onlylive=true
  6. Whatever happened to the Beaverette Armoured Car Mk IV that used to reside in the museum. Is anyone aware of its whereabouts?
  7. For those interested i have came across a video of one of the architects on a walk around with a kid, some interesting kit in the background for the observant
  8. What has happened with this Covenanter dig? I am surprised this thread has not been looked at in a while.
  9. So i stumbled across a photo (which i have linked below this comment) Which shows an aged Chieftain in Berlin camouflage. The photo was taken in 2015 at what appears to be a farm in Garlieston, Scotland. According to the comments this was then apparently moved to Dumfries & Galloway. I don't suppose anyone knows any info on its history, and if it is still there?
  10. Well done on your find. What will you be doing with the pair? are the Vineyard keeping them, or are you going to be restoring them into working order.
  11. I think it is still visible, its just the signage has not been placed around the exhibits. Also whilst i am here, (to anyone in the know who happens by this comment) how did Bovington's attempts to borrow Samur's running Tiger 2 for Tiger day go?
  12. My source of information comes from the following website http://preservedtanks.com/Profile.aspx?UniqueID=191&Select=4 as well as bits of i have read elsewhere. Which if you can read stated the tank was initially sat outside Gamecock barracks until being taken to the Imperial War Museum in London, and subsequently to Duxford (Then Wheatcroft) I don't know how reliable said website is mind you, but this seem to be the only one that provides information as to where it has been. I am hoping some user on here could shed some light as to why the tank ended up in private collectors hands when it seemingly had never been so in the past.
  13. Sorry i could not fit the question into the above title. How did the Wheatcroft collection go about acquiring the Alkett/Rhinemetall-Borsig - 10.5cm leFH 18/40/2 auf Geschuetzwagen III/IV from the Imperial war museum group? From what i gather the Museum had sent it off to be restored by the Wheatcroft collection, however since that point the German SPG prototype has not been seen at the museum, instead now seemingly being owned by the Wheatcroft collection. Could anyone shed light as to why the museum never bought it back?
  14. It seems like thats actually what they plan to do. They have finally gone public about it and mentioned an interested in getting a Sturmtiger. I don't see Kubinka giving up theirs so i assume they are going after one of the ones that live in Germany. Write up about it provided below. http://tankmuseum.org/year-news/bovnews53673Even With a nice clip of the Jagdpanther moving for the first time in many years (if you can view it via Facebook)
  15. Well i had the Tank Museum's own E-newsletter through, and it pretty much confirms that the Elefant will be loaned out to Bovington. I believe its suppose to arrive at some point within this month. Certainly be worth another visit just to see it, i assume it will go onto public display even with the exhibition refurbishment.
  16. So i have heard on a good authority that as part of tank museums organising of a new exhibit based around Tiger family of tanks, they out on loan the Panzerjäger Tiger (P) Elefant from the US (which is currently in storage at US Army Ordnance Museum) I believe my source is fairly trustworthy, so i would be interested to know whether this is correct.
  17. So i don't know how many people are aware, but Bovington tank Museum's Vehicle Conservation Centre housed a few vehicle under wraps. I don't know who owned them, other than i heard they are owned by the imperial war museum who put them at Bovington while they were redeveloping something. But it appears that not long ago the 11 vehicles have been moved elsewhere. As this video shows So does anyone know who owns these vehicles, and where they have now gone?
  18. So the Normandy Tank museum sale is over and the result are now available online, what should be noted is that a large number of vehicle went above their guide prices. 19. Bumping this up as i dont think many of you know about this one. But Red Bull actually own a Volvo Sugga with a few modifications, it showed up to my universities freshers fair. It seems Red Bull own a number of these Sugga's. Both here in the UK and in the US.
  20. So as i understand there are a large amount of rare military vehicles sat up at the former RAF base at Folkingham, in Lincolnshire. I have to ask. Is the land containing these old vehicles still MOD property or is it privately owned? Also does anyone know whether the owner/s intend to ever sell off some of these rare machines (such as the Antar's)? and, has anyone actually recovered some vehicles from the site? Any response would be appreciated.
  21. Having never seen this museum, only having seen some of this exhibits in there new homes. I have to ask does anyone know what happened to, or who has the following vehicles? (Following link to pictures) Talbot Ambulance EG3506 The Foden/Pyrene riot control van The Leyland Retriever workshop van It would be greatly appreciated.
