Today sees the last people in Britain to be executed before the abolition of Capital Punishment.

Two Murderers are dispatched, Peter Allen is hanged at Walton Prison, Liverpool, and John Walby at Strangeways Prison, Manchester.

As a coincidence today 1941 sees the last execution at the Tower of London when German spy Josef Jakobs has the death sentence carried out.
