Wooden RL cargo body

Afternoon all,

I have a question. I own a Bedford QL which has at some time during her life had an RL cargo body fitted. Is this a military thing or a post military service civi change?

Reason I ask is that I would really like to put a QLD body on her, BUT don't want to mess something up that may be part of her military service.

She also has a Bedford 330 diesel lump, but think that will stay (One because of MPG, but also I can't afford to change the bu**er!).

Your thoughts/views would be appreciated.

I know the chances of finding a GC QLD body is going to be difficult at best, but looking at the fantastic work Guy put into his wagon I would be tempted to fabricate my own.

If not a military change then does anyone want to buy a good condition RL cargo body?....... :-D

Hi Colin,

That is not a military RL body, I reckon it is off an Auxiliary Fire Service RL

I'd agree with Richard - AFS / Home Office body. A nice body and increasingly difficult to find, so find someone for it rather than destroying it, but at the same time probably fitted relatively recently in civvy life and no reason to worry about changing it if you want authenticity.

Right ok gents, got it and many thanks.

Bottom pic is my wagon and top is one I borrowed off the net. I see the roof mounted lights on the RL cab.

Won't be destroying it , but feel a bit better about moving it on and buying/fabricating a new QLD body.

Just have to see how much it's worth now!
