  1. I also have a Ferret, I usually run on the left side of the tank, and do a visual before I set off. Occassionally run it on the right just to empty out any stale fuel that may be hanging about...although I am sure that is not neccessary as it would swoosh about when you fiull up anyhow.
  2. the guy pulled it before the auction ended. There is one just been put up on milweb though...looks rough but is cheap. Would you think that is worth a punt, if it does drive OK? What are the specific areas to look for...I think Chris said the footwells/floor...anywhere else? Is it easy to get hold of the tilt and bars to hold it all up? Mick
  3. Do you think it would be OK to charge through the accessory plug? I am not sure if that is disabled when the igintion is off (probably not) and whether the cables are up to it.
  4. Hah...all these years and you guys were all wrong...... You don't want browns, khakis and greens.....you want to go floral luvvy. If you had got that poncey bloke from Changing Rooms (Lawrence Llewelyn something-or-other) to help with your restorations Beltring would be a much more colourful place!!!
  5. SnowTracDave, sure you didn't get it mixed up with something else? Did your wife complain that she had real trouble taking her nail varnish off?
  6. Chris, I think you may be right...it could be NATO green rather than DBG. There is a paint shop nearby (L.E. Went) that will colour match...I may take it down there to see what they can do. Hammerite sounds like the best bet for red then :-) Thanks guys...now just need to warm the ferret up so the paint will stick!
  7. I am about to rub down and paint the wheels of my Ferret. I have read through Jack's paint documents, but there is no mention of what colour red is for the wheenuts? Is it just pillarbox red? Also, I bought some Landrover Deep Bronze Green, and it does not look quite right against the existing colour...maybe the original paint has faded? Or maybe the Deep Bronze Green is not correct? So...questions are: What red do I need, and what green (if I went to an automotive paint supplier, would he understand what BS224 is?) Thanks, Mick
  8. Neil, do you see photos on the tender site? I am kinda excited about the Saracens Mick
  9. Does a ferret (without all the radio kit) really need such humungous batteries? Would it not be OK with two smaller ones just in the left hand box...would make it easier to work on not having to mess with the air filter, and all the interconnect cables would be in the same place?
  10. Thanks John...I will do that when Jack's shipment gets rolling :-) Are you going to Brooklands later this month?
  11. Thanks Chris, yes for the sake of a tenner it seems pointless not changing the tube. Mick
  12. Guys, I know some of you have replaced your runflats with non-run-flats. Is replacing the tyres something that can be done by a normal punter like me? Do you re-use the same inner tube (there is also a ring between the two wheel halves to secure the tyre bead?)? Is the tyre volume different (I guess the sidewalls are thinner?), so the tyre pressure should be different? Cheers Mick
  13. Hi Justin, welcome from another Ferret owner (albeit in Surrey). If you want experts on just about everything to do with MVs, I think you are in the right place. The guys on here have put up with a lot of dumb-@ss questions from me and have not flamed me yet. ;-) Just remember...when you start doing something there is always an easier way and the guys here know that way. Mick
  14. cool thanks Lee. I looked at the v112 earlier today and thought I was in for a pain in the xxxx. As mine was in service in 1959, looks like I just need to take along all my documentation just in case they get shirty :-D Mick
  15. so are you saying ferrets do not automagically have MOT exemption (mine is a CC prefix), but I have to show something at the PO to say it is MOT exempt to get my tax? My tax runs out at the end of this month, so better get it sorted.
  16. thanks guys....leightweight would seem the route to go. Lets see if I can get that deal done, then move onto a 101. I did just tell her I was going to get a landrover......not what sort ;-)
  17. As far as I know, they don't need and MOT...well I hope so as I don't have one! Zero road tax of course. Mick
  18. Are they markings to be seen from the air? Maybe on top of vehicles?
  19. Clive, as they are different colours, and cannot be differentiated in the dark.... are they to identify types of chemicals or substances? are they on clothing/material?
  20. I may have convinced someone that selling the Merc, and getting a landrover is a good idea. Not sure whether to go for a 109, lightweight or 101. I would love a 101 but only have £2k tops to spend. Would that get me a decent lightweight? What are the points to look out for on a leightweight? Are their weka points the same as the series...ie the bulkhead and outriggers? Thanks Mick
  21. A horse shoe silencer? Or is it for spreading the weight/reducing ground pressure of something?
  22. When I used to do a lot of bike racing, a mate of mine was always buying new bikes, and he used to get them all painted red...so he could say "no, I've always had that red one". Surely its just as easy in this game...they are all green...mostly!
