  1. have you thought of doing the repair yourself using solder. it's really easy, i did one of my cromwell tanks and didn't struggle. just make sure the area is really clean. i used normal plumbing joint solder laid on top of the hole then applied heat with a blow lamp although you might want to use a large soldering iron as sometimes the flame made the joint dirty if it take take quickly enough
  2. i'll go with richards thoughts on small tractor final drives. whatever it is i'll bet you're glad you got hold of them
  3. always nice to meet a fellow lunatic. (there's not enough of us about). glad you got the final drives sorted, it looked to be the last major piece of the puzzle, apart from the tracks that is. keep up the good work. when you've finished we'll have a chat about something bigger
  4. i went up on saturday when the range was closed for a shufti and found the parts chris has already shown as well as a nice piece of side armour still with the idler attached.
  5. jon these are muff couplings and propshaft for your steering box, at least i think they are, if memory serves me right.( it's been a long time since i messed around with 432 series)
  6. if i had a pound for everytime someone said that to me, i'd still be skint if i can help out i will and good for you for taking on such an ambitious project and making it happen. not many about that could do it, myself included
  7. no worries i'll dig them out tomorrow and put up a pic, if you need them you can have them in exchange for a crate of foster's
  8. really coming along now john, excellent work. i think i might have the steering box to engine propshaft somewhere as well as the half moons that connect it to the final drive. let me know if you need them and i will have a shufti for them.
  9. i'm sure we'll get to meet up, i might even come over to your workshop for a mooch one day.
  10. i'd love too but i still owe the guy a chunk of money so it's still sitting in his yard but it won't be long before i can scratch the rest up. to be honest it was an impulse buy as i bumped into the seller at malvern and made a bid on the spot. he accepted and i then had to come up with the money from somewhere the day i sold it i vowed to buy it back one day if it ever became available.
  11. The T16 restoration story has had a happy ending. I have just bought it back from the dealer i sold it to 6 years ago
  12. thanks mick. my dingo leaks like a sieve so those part numbers will come in handy. cheers
  13. took these pics from a mates dingo
  14. hi chris the first pic looks like the inner hull plate. the second is an upturned engine deck. like definitely cromwell/centaur. i'd like to go up for a look around
  15. i'll have them bob if they're still available
  16. richard merry xmas and thank you from me also. i haven't heard of a starter motor with an over ride before. i'll keep that in mind. much better than a big screwdriver and a lot of sparks
  17. i have just bought a dingo in the states and the starter motor has just packed in before they got it to the port. i did wonder if it was the the seller asking for a replacement but that doesn't seem to be the case
  18. i'm also looking into having track cast so will follow this thread with even more interest. i had considered use old track melted down to make the new, that way you know you're getting the right manganese steel. there's a foundry near me that i've got in mind for doing the casting. you could even do it yourself if you had the time and inclination
  19. i have a maybach dynamo and magneto/distributor
