I have 5 number M746 Ward LaFrance tractor units, all with a build year of 1976 on the US Military Data Plate.
I would be very appreciative if anybody could give me an indication of where the serial number is engraved on the engine block. The engines are Detroit Desiel 12V71-T, there are several numbers on the block, but none of these correspond with the suppliers information on Detroit Diesel serial numbers. The engines should have option plates on the valve covers, but all of these are missing.
