yorkshire Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Hi, I am looking for information about the 119th light anti aircraft regiment during the second world war. My father served with them in france and germany in 1944/1945 under the command of the 15th scottish. My father told me they used a 40mm bofors gun mounted on a canadian truck. Any reference I can find only ever mentions the british using a morris truck. Thanks Neil Quote
Rick W Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Ive seen pics of them mounted on CMP's. Will try and dig some out. Quote

Neil, They were mounted on a Canadian Ford F60 3 ton lorry, I have seen photos recently, might have been on the MLU Forum, they tend to specialise in Canadian vehicles. Quote

yorkshire Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Thanks to you all for your very quick replys. I was hoping that someone may have the answer as to why a british unit was using Canadian vehicles. The roll the 119th played was that of close support for the infantry as we had gained Air superiority. Thanks again Neil Quote

They were designed to War Office requirements, hence why the CMP's were right hand drive. Quote
