Degsy
Anybody see this programme tonight? Plenty of Jeeps Dodges and Jimmys some with the usual "mods". But an airfield was being built by engineers wearing the insignia of the 1st Inf Div, could this have happened or would it have been done by USAAF construction personnel? Jessie The Jeep
Whoever was building it, they certainly were not building B-17 bases in Hastings!!! Steve
Richard Farrant
Anybody see this programme tonight? Did you note the dozer working in the background? Could not get a good shot of it, but sounded like it was powered by a GM 3-71 diesel, poss a Allis Chalmers? Richard
Degsy
Hi Richard Yes,but I couldn't identify it, no doubt some one will know as the vehicles must have been hired in for the filming. Cheers Degsy

Guest matt
Hi guys, US Army engineers did construct airfields in the UK as well as Aviation Engineer units. I don't watch Foyles War but there were many types of Dozer and tracked tractor used by the engineers. Matt.
Centurion
I like the program and wouldnt think of myself as a rivet counter :!: But in the final shots the Jeep has a Hotchkiss plastic coated tilt. Which I dont think were available until the 60,s Centurion
