I am sure degsy will put me right but the British trucks at RtV last week had a very distinctive note to their engines.

2 strokes ....are you winding me up:n00b:

 

They were all side valve 4 strokes that I can think of, Bedford 6cyl, Ford V8 , Morris 4cyl, Albion 6cyl and there was a CMP Chevy 6cyl OHV.

Hey there............a Bedford 28hp....a side valve ????. It was a superior version of the Chev engine used in the CMP trucks, 216 if I recall. at least it had pressure fed big ends, not hit and miss squirters like the Chev.

 

Jack, that engine noise you heard was the superior sound of British engineering at its best :nono:
