Tony B
Pointy of order! The last Axis forces in Europe did not surrender until 08:30 on MAY 9th 1945. Though HMS Bulldog appraoched Gurnersey on the 8th May at 14:30 he was informed by the representative of Admiral Huffmier, commander of forces that the armisitice did not come into force till 24:00 and that Bulldog should retire in case she was fired on. Brigader Snow, British commander of force 135 replied that if 1 shot was fired Huffmier would be summarily hung. The force did however withdraw, returning at 02:30 on may 9th.
