The 109 FFR that i have been working on (66HG56) is now about to be pre-MOT'd we got it out of the shed and got it running.... BUT......... The ignition light goes dull but wont go out ! and tonight with the lights on it stayed bright... is there a common problem ? or what should i do first? (the L/R has not been used for 2 years) Thanks Ian
Tony B
Yes it is a common problem on split charge. The relay switch is probably stuck. Not having the wiring diagram in front of me I can't rember wher it is.

Tony B
That little combination sounds like the problem is behind the instrument panel. it is a real spagetti hell behind there. First thought would be an earth.

abn deuce
correct me if I ve confused this with a different thread but did all the failures start after you connected those loose cables and had the connection to your battery spark?
Tony B
Sounds like you need another set of eyes.Where about are you?
sean101ryan
Consult Clive Elliots 24V articles and get hold of a decent wiring diagram. The way the instruments etc work is mostly the same 12 or 24V. Sounds like you have Generator or generator panel problems coupled with mis-matched batteries going by your posts elsewhere. Either follow the 24V articles carefully or get someone who REALLY knows their 24V stuff to look at it.

Tony B
try to get a large copy of the wiring diagram. The ones in the manual are small and a pain to use.
Ian Dunn
Right... here goes... the FFR has been of the road for about 4 years (best guess) this last year we have restored it (none of the wiring has been altered and it has always worked(lights etc) last week prior to the MOT we checked everything, lights, indicators, wipers, washers, horn everything was ok (only telltale for trailer was not working (this should only flash once unless there is a cable hooked up). a workshop over the road from us(they train kids for NVQ's etc) took it for the MOT they had just started the MOT when the tester noticed fumes etc comming from the older of the 2 batteries (i dont know what they did next needles to say it failed the mot) lights not bright enough indicators and telltale not working etc i have now put on a new battery (the older one now has only been used a dozen times and that is running the FFR) i should also mention we have had the FFR running (about 2 weeks ago) for 2 hours non stop...the only thing we found was that the reading over the battery terminals when running was only 25 volts (ignition light was glowing very dull) the result is now we have no wiper/washer no indicator telltale(although indicators work) no ignition light at all and only 23v over battery terminals when running everything else works fine starts horn indicators fan lights !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope this makes sense Ian and by the way i am down in Cornwall Thanks for any help.
