MartinN
I am replacing the rear leaf springs on my MW. Had to cut the old spring off. The pinch bolts have been removed. But getting the shackle pins off is proving very difficult. They are pins rather than bolts? The end of the pins isn’t a true bolt head but round with two flats for a 3/4 open end spanner. Ideas please.
Richard Farrant
Martin, On the rear springs, the pin on the back of the spring is driven inwards to remove, and the one on the front end of the spring has to be driven outwards. They are pins, not bolts.
MartinN
The rear bolt cannot be driven in the head is on the outside.
64EK26
Hi This is what the shackle pin look like, minus grease nipple (this one was badly worn and was replaced - I got my new ones from Norman Aish) This was when it was fitted Hope this helps Cheers Richard
64EK26
Hi Forgot to add, they need to be knocked out with a drift as the splines in the pin nearest the nut are designed to bed into the shackle to stop the shackle bolt from rotating Cheers Richard
MartinN
The rear hanger is different on mine. It’s a pin that’s a bolt.
