john1950
I think I remember a discussion about 4x4 Bedford J types, but I cannot find the thread. There is a Bedford J5 4x4 for sale at the moment in Esher. There is a plate stating the conversion was undertaken by All Wheel Drive of Camberley. As far as I can make out from the photo's the front axle differential is on the left sitting in the drivers seat and appears to be a split axle. At the rear the diff is about on the centre line, again a split axle.
Richard Farrant
John, Those axles sound like QL one, probably a QL transfer box as well!.
john1950
I just cannot remember for sure, I will see if I can find it again.
john1950
A little more information. 1959 Bedford J5S03 08103. Chassis number 186A-1. It is on six stud hubs.
Richard Farrant
Just remembered that the diff on a QL front axle is on the driver's side, (ie. right), so appears if it is a QL front, then it has been turned over.
