R Cubed
Hi all, a friend of mine has just bought a GAZ 66 but he has been told that it has a faulty starter motor. So my question is does anyone have one ?
FW200
Well, I can recommend this seller on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/kesovagora/m.html?item=171649948040 He doesn't have one listed at the moment but if you send him a message he can get pretty much anything you might need GAZ/ZIL related. zoltan
Yes, mine has a faulty starter motor too, I've lost count of the number of times I've rebuilt the solenoid. Good luck with finding something that works for more than five minutes. The modern offerings don't seem to be very much better, same story with the copper disc burning out on the contacts as on the old ones Is this the black one in Leicester? ferretfixer
There are small firms about, that refurbish starter motors & alternators. Would it be worth enquiring, if they could overhaul/ rebuild the starter for your Friend?
super6
You could try Power Components at Westbourne, had a starter motor and dynamo rebuilt there, albeit for a tractor. Telephone number is 01243 378460, don't take a large vehicle as not easy to get in or out of.
