question 1950's British army head wear

Simple question, by the mid 50's what was the standard OR's "soft" head gear in the Royal Signals? Were they still using the Cap GS or had things moved on to the beret?

Indeed! Yes, the Signals wore headsets a LOT of the time, on exercises. & The Beret was de Rigeur for this application.

it was also more comfortable on long periods of radio Stag! :-|
