secondshooter
A vew of the outside , no measurements given so you will have to guess at the size ?
andym
Looks like some kind of barrel bore gauge to me? Andy
secondshooter
Its possible , the little studs on the outside may be spring loaded and their compression operated the gauge ? although I have only ever used flip over gauges when measuring bores. a long tedious procedure something like this would be quick and could be done by the crew. we are inventing a use for this because it looks like a shell casing , anybody else got a clue or guess ? Scoper77
I reckon it's a fire extinguisher cylinder - probably not military, and if it is of British manufacture, probably made early sixties???
MHillyard
I believe I have this on the bottom of an old brass fire extinguisher as suggested above. Will try to get some photos tonight or tomorrow

MHillyard
If anyone actually knows if this had a specific use I would be interested in knowing, just picked it up last year and forgot about it. Was it anything special or just a fire extinguisher? And the base:
