question WW2 U.S. Wiper Arms / Blades

I admit defeat - assistance required! Here is a standard wiper blade and a standard wiper arm. After many years of using these, admittedly losing quite a few blades along the way, we are now unable to even put together new examples of each.

 

So what blade goes with this arm, and what arm goes with this blade? :???

Hi Tony,

Looking at the top photo, the blade is the wrong way around to hook in to the arm. I always cut a piece of rubber to go through the hole, to stop the blade falling out.

You're right Richard - I just laid them out quickly yesterday for a photo.

 

But when trying to hook them together, the width of the lug on blade C is too big to fit slot B on arm. Also the length of the tang on the arm A is too long to allow blade to hook through. Tried bending it back but still no good.

 

I've never had to file any before - is there an incompatibility with some pattern parts?

I have to say the end of that arm is different to those I have used before, they have not had the screw attachment part, just slot in end of the arm. Must have used a different blade on them. I would get a needle file out!

The screw-attached end is on a spline so the angle of the blade can be altered. I'm sure these came from one of the Jeep parts suppliers recently.
