Snapper
I've started, so I'll finish (see my previous post). This book starts like a generalised "once there was a thing called WW2" effort, and an immediate reaction is negative. But once we get past the scene setting stuff the authors get down to collating some brilliant first hand experiences. For me, the Juno Beach stuff is the best; but there is so much more. A few well known characters like Stan Hollis make an inevitable appearance, but there are a great many new faces; which is this book's strength. I am an admirer of Robin Neillands later solo works and feel he has much more to offer. I'm sure some of you will have read this already seeing as it came out in 1993. But if you find it at a boot fair or at your local scouts jumble sale, then snap it up. I'm really glad my library had that clear out, now.
