question What is this? Alpine troops bergan?

A friend wondered if i knew what this was. Looks like a postwar swiss or german bergan but is arrow marked and by remploy. It also has a metal frame.

 

Any ideas? Appologies for the poor quality

AFAIK Mainly Royal Marine Issue during the 60s and 70s..and still around in the early 80s..

 

I have the same that was issued to my old man in late 82 when he was in the Falklands..I think they were taken down from store to the south atlantic. Some pics of the conflict show them too - particularly being used by Journalists

 

Based on the Cresta Rucksack from the 50s..

A great many commercial and other-armies rucksacks were adopted for use during the Falklands campaign......

 

The only "Cresta" I remember from the 70s era was the fizzy bottled drink with the polar bear...."it's frothy man"..:-D

My unce was a Royal Marine and lent me one as he thought the RAF was not kitted :-D, so uncomfortable so i went and got a Berghaus roc which i still have since 1982!!:cool2:
