motorfahrer
Hello all, Freiwillige Motorfahrer Korps (Voluntary motor driver corps) was part of an organanisation to provide the Austrian Hungarian army with motorcars and drivers in the times before WW I. So you see my interest is in the Austrian-Hungarian motorisation and the companies producing vehicles from the beginning of the last century till the end of this companies. Vehicles of that age of Austrian-Hungarian origin are very rare here in Austria so love to read of restorations of such old vehicles especially when the so instructive as the threads by Great War Trucks. This is for me the main attraction of this interesting forum. Hope to read more of this interesting stuff motorfahrer from Austria

Tony B
Welcome! The Automobile Association or AA in UK did the same thing. Wonder who had the idea first?
Great War truck
Hi. Pleased to have you here. The Austro-Hungarian trucks of WW1 are very interesting and i think technically very advanced. I hope that we can exchange information on the subject. I can only think of one survivor and that is the WAF, unless you know of any others? Tim Hello Great War Truck, i know of an Austro Fiat Subventions truck. Very complete but not running. A friend of mine was driving Praga Batteriekommandantenwagen many years but has sold it to a collector where it sits in a garage. We had a lot of fun driving this powerful vehicle. And did sometimes sorts of small scale reenactment with it. I love to read your threads of restoring your trucks especially the instructive pictures how to do it. Great War truck
Thanks. The forum is a marvellous tool which allows us to record exactly what we are doing, get feedback and advice from some of the very knowledgable people here and hopefully encourage others to have a go at the early stuff. I think it is working, as there are several WW1 projects on the go. Interested to hear about the early stuff near you. I am convinced that for every one we know about over here there are two more in private collections that never see the light of day. i am sure it is the same the world over. Are there any good reference books about WW1 Austro Hungarian vehicles? Tim
motorfahrer
Hello, there only a few books on austrian cars of any age. Years ago Austro-Fiat and Gräf & Stift got books on their history which started before WWI. Here you can find some data and pictures. The book " Kraftfahrzeuge und Panzer des österreichischen Bundesheeres 1896 bis Heute " is from 1976 give a good overview but is written in german. The years up to 1918 are covered in 88 pages up to 1938 200 pages. Maybe you can find it second hand on http://www.ZVAB.de But when you have a specific question i will be pleased to try to find something in my books for you. regards motorfahrer
