Rauceby War Weekend Press
Rauceby 40’s Weekend 2012 August 25th,26th 27th 2012 The Mid Lincs MVT is holding their 4th War Years weekend on the above date this year. We are a non profit making event so any monies raised after expenses will go to the charities, Air Ambulance, Royal British Legion and Marie Curie Cancer Care. Please visit our website www.raucebywarweekend.co.uk to have a look at what it’s all about, It is also to help keep people informed or you can phone 01529 488354. We have a large marquee booked to hold a 1940’s dance for three hundred people on Saturday night with Katie Lancaster and supported by Paul Harper who is an ENSA entertainer and DJ Texas Tommy all backed by the most popular DJ Major Swing. This is a ticket only dance. Tickets are £8. The entertainment on Friday and Sunday night is free. The marquee will also be used for various demonstrations like fashion shows, hair demonstrations (have your hair done 40’s style for the evening dance), and dancing etc. We will be having living history displays, re-enactors (people promenading in all sorts of different uniforms), and a large selection of military vehicles and classic cars with various stall holders Military & Civilian selling their wares to keep the public entertained. We are also having an arena where we will be having a staged battle each day (can be quite noisy), Vehicle parades and demonstrations involving the public. We also hope to have a flypast from the Battle of Britain memorial flight (TBC). We have plenty of entertainment for the children with an old fashioned funfair, motorised mini jeeps to drive and some participation events for them to join in like Grenade throwing and rifle cum boot camp drill. There is plenty of food sold on site with a NAFFI selling homemade wartime type sandwiches and cakes (unfortunately not 1940’s prices) and Richies Kitchen providing all the other food including hogroasts,Salads,Curries and vegetarian options and much more. There is also a bar selling real ales amongst other drinks to help quench your thirst. Everybody that has been approached from kent to Cumbria, is very positive about it. We are expecting a crowd of 1,000/day, possibly more. The Entry fee is £5/person/day . Children who are 12 and under are free. Veterans and MVT Members are also free. This is all educational to certain school children as they do WW2 at school. So, dig out your outfits from the loft, get dressed up and come and be part of this grand event and help raise for the above charities whilst having fun. Once you have been to one you will want to attend more. I hope that you can support us in some way.
