Value for money, length of time in Lancaster, etc etc. I'm thinking of organizing a trip up there so would like to know what you get for the day ??? Jerrykins Posted December 29, 2010 Share Posted December 29, 2010 I was lucky enough to go on a taxi run a couple of years back, sporting sharp elbows on the day, I managed to stand behind the pilot, an ex Hastings pilot who was very friendly. An experience I'll not forget, although the engines only run at 1500 r/min the noise/vibration is all enveloping. It makes you wonder what an 8 hour flight at higher engine speeds must have been exhausting even without the extreme cold or the fear of being killed. A warning the taxi run is over in a flash or so it seems. I got a sit in the pilots seat, the controls were so precise and light. The aircraft appeared in very good shape. The engines ran up well although the port outer seemed to slobber oil a bit, the others seemed very clean. Was it worth it - like hell it was!! Would I recommend it - a brilliant day.
