Karoshi
Well they aint SO big, http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/images/LARC-pic1.jpg If fact these are they: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&t=k&ll=50.82632500,-1.08793300&q=United%20Kingdom&spn=0.000552,0.001207 at 97 tons the each. Well you do get one engine per wheel, with three speed Torquematic gearboxes, so you're not inconvenienced to change gear ! Mind you puncture repairs might be difficult, as the 36.00 x 41 tyres weigh just over 3000 lbs the EACH. But Hey, What price fun ?
mick.wilson
Yep, seen them there, what is the price tag on one of them?, it would take up all 3 lanes of the motorway driving it about 8-). If you zoom in on that map image looks like its full of spair tyres. Mick.
Guest matt
I don't think the ebay one is the same as the two in Pounds,it's actually smaller :schocked:. I have some info on BARC's ans LARC's which I will attempt to find. There's another example like the ones in Pounds at Hooton Park on the Wirral. Big is not a word that does those things justice, they are not really a vehicle, more a ship with wheels. On the subject of things that float,I'd love an LVT!! Matt. Karoshi
I agree Matt, the Pounds BARCS are the Larc -LX's 60 tonners, whilst the ebay jobby is probably the much smaller Larc-V, with the single V8. But a LARC all the same. But I didn't have a handy picture of one of them.
