Jack
Thanks ABN - interesting about where the star was placed on the Shermans and the fact that the germans used zimmerate for the Russian front but German tanks in Normandy had zimmerate on them too - perhaps standard practice? ajmac
Both good points Jack, Perhaps one of the forum members can answer the zimmarate question . There is a drop dead date for Zimmerite, I think early 44. Obviously you don't know where a vehicle is going once it leaves the production line thus all Tanks had the vertical (or near vertical) surfaces covered in Zimmerite before final production paint of Dark Yellow was applied.
