antarmike Posted December 2, 2009 Share Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) I would like to remember Michael Oliver, founder of the Great Dorset Steam Fair, who died last Sunday, aged 75. I have many happy memories of Michael, and remember with joy all the "Stourpaines" I have been to since 1987. I am sure that many members of this board knew Michael personally, and have enjoyed the shows he put on and the legacy that will live on thanks to Martin's commitment to his fathers legacy. Knowing that Michael hasn't been well doesn't make it any less of a shock, but yes I am sure the show will go on. Mr Oliver has had a huge effect on the preservation movement as I'm sure that the GDSF has inspired many people like me to get involved ! So God bless him !
