Steve Greenberg
Hello, Today was the annual Veterans Day Parade in Vancouver, Washington Vancouver is just across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. I had the honor of hauling 2 WWII LCI Veterans in my DUKW. One of them came all the way from Florida with his 2 sons to visit the LCI-713 that is being restored in Portland, Or. (That was a birthday present from his sons) He served on LCI-1074. It landed in the Phillipines along with LCI-713 in 1942! As you can see it was a rather wet cool day. But that did not stop me from crossing the Columbia River! It was the first time either of the Vets had been on a DUKW. Here is a link to a video of the beach landing. Honor all Veterans... Enigma
Well done. Must have brought back some memories for the Old Soldiers. Hopefully I'll be able to cross a river in a DUKW. We have a river nearby, no DUKW though.
