rippo
Hello, Can anyone tell me what this is? An old chap has asked me to sell it for him, he said it's a flying jacket, and he'd stuck the badges on to suit his collection. But due to his years he struggles to tell me what it is, apart from a flying jacket. Once i know what it is i can syick it on ebay for him. Thanks
Bodge Deep
Its nothing spectacular I don't think. It is loosely (quite loosely) based on the A2 Jacket, a lightweight flight jacket for the USAAF personel of WWII. Usually there are no side entry 'slash' pockets and the back panel is one piece of leather on the A2 proper... http://www.acmedepot.com/a2jacket/index.shtml
Jessie The Jeep
The shoulder patch is the 14th Air Force patch. It has the American Volunteer Group 'Leaping Tiger' patch on the left breast. On the back is a version of the 'Blood Chit' As Bodge said, it's not a particularly good reproduction of an A-2 Jacket, more of a stylised fashion version.
