  1. Completed my CES kit as well, this took years to assemble and locate everything.
  2. I have not been updating this thread as I intended to but it is still progressing. I’ve gotten a lot done since I last posted. Here are some current pictures. I have bought new tires, installed the dash instruments and wiring, rebuilt the brakes with alll new parts, painted the hull and stowage bins after repairs, and am currently reassembling the transmission after replacing the band material. There is no part on this Ferret that has not been removed, restored, and gone through to verify its condition CaptMax
  3. I am rebuilding my Wilson transmission in my Daimler Ferret and have come to a halt. I have new gear bands installed and am reassembling the transmission but would like to remove the first gear drum to make assembly easier. I have pictured the drum I am trying to remove. I have no clue as to why this one stayed in place where the others came off with no issues. Has anyone torn into these as as deeply as I have or am I alone in my quest? Any helpful hints to remove this would be gladly appreciated. Thank you., CaptMax
  4. I have five Ferret tires with run flat inserts for sale in Northern Michigan USA. These are 9.0x16 Dunlop TrakGrips. They are in usable condition although several do have weather checking on them. There is about 75% of the tread left on them. I am looking for $900 or a reasonable offer for all five plus shipping. You can contact me at: captmax (at) att (dot) net CaptMax
  5. I don't think you will find a nicely restored Ferret for any less than 20k, if you do you better buy it. Look at what the one from the Littlefield collection sold for. I have seen others sell for $25k-$35k.
  6. Looks fantastic, well executed plan albertami. CaptMax
  7. albertamj, Thank you for the reply. I agree with you on the idea of keeping it as correct as possible. Bo's restoration is a beautiful example too and I am well aware of it. Like yours, his work is inspiring as well. I will say it again, "Beautiful Restoration". CaptMax
  8. Beautiful work, I am close to painting mine so I am paying close attention to this thread. Any helpful advice you can offer will be much appreciated. CaptMax
  9. Beautiful restoration, I will be following with anticipation. CaptMax Daimler Ferret Mk2/3 01 DA 04
  10. Just a little poke to you Robin to see if you can update your thread soon. I am currently at a standstill until warmer weather when I will be able to paint my MK2/3. You are a bit further ahead than me so it is nice to see your progress. CaptMax
  11. Ammoman is correct, if you remove the cartridge guides your fine and won't need to modify your mount. I changed mine from 30-06 to 308 and it works great. See for yourself. Mine is a live gun as well.
  12. This question was originally posted on a Facebook forum and Robin was kind enough to post it here for me. As I received the answer from him on the original post I was unaware of who answered it. I am indebted to everyone who responded and please know that I am sincere when I say "Thank-you". I do appreciate the information and the fact that Robin was kind enough to post it here for an answer. Respectfully, CaptMax 01 DA 04 T29C
  13. I guess I was lucky as mine had only a bit of sediment and the bright galvanizing was really nice inside. I only had to flush, prime, and repaint. I did have to repair one mount though which is typical of these petrol tanks. CaptMax
  14. How correct you are Richard, this was a problem with mine when I purchased it. Had to get a replacement planetary carrier. You could even see where the dowels elongated the holes if they didn't shear off beforehand. CaptMax
  15. Nice job Tim, keep us posted as to your progress. CaptMax 01 DA 04
  16. Sure wish it were closer!!! I just bought a bunch of black mag for blasting my ferret hull, that paint is really thick!! Sounds like this product you have would be perfect to use, hope someone can pick it up from you and put it to use. CaptMax
  17. This weekend I cleaned and painted my starter. I was going to have it rebuilt but it was in perfectly good working order. I also got the fuel pump completed and several other items restored, next will be the alternator and carburetor. CaptMax
  18. Have you seen the prices for the British Mortars lately? They haven't gotten any cheaper either. http://www.collectorssource.com/homepage-main-featured-item/british-wwii-3-inch-mortar.html CaptMax
  19. Hull cleaned and ready to sandblast, transmission is almost ready to paint too. CaptMax
  20. Datadawg, Other than replacing the plugs, hoses, oils & fluids, Fluid flywheel bearing & seal, rebuilding the starter, fuel pump, & carburetor not much more. I will pressure wash and clean it completely before repainting but otherwise it is running like a Rolls Royce B60 should. It will be detailed top to bottom as I won't get a better opportunity than I have now. I will be sure and post pictures when I am done detailing it. CaptMax
