  1. Madrat I have to admire you. wishing you all the best for this restoration. Always fancied a Stolly, but until the Explorer's finished I don't think Mrs Daz would hear of it! Good luck mate. Much better than it rotting away or being cut up. :-D
  2. Great Antar photos 6x6. Thanks for posting. I too think they look better-proportioned as Ballast Tractors. A bit 'front heavy' in 5th wheel form. Cheers. Daz
  3. At least you'll know everything has been sorted. Unfortunately there's no real alternative is there? Really hope you have a great season with it when you get it all back together- if you can still afford to go anywhere....!:cry:
  4. A lovely truck! Welcome to the forum
  5. This must be a different view of the HMVF Clubhouse that Gritineye mentions in his Explorer Gallery index........:-D
  6. ....but make sure your centre seat passenger has a full-face crash helmet...:rofl:
  7. Remember: "Ex" ("Has-been") , "(S)pert" ("A drip under pressure") :cool2:
  8. 224/#674 HMVF clubhouse car park! :-D Nice One Gritineye!! :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
  9. As chrisg says this is the main problem, coupled to the fact that LR never used a seal between the roof panel and sides. Silicone is not a great solution. There is proper panel sealant which caravan/motorhome/bodybuilders use which is better. I did have some success with about 14 tubes of silicone between the roof and sides combined with waxoyl sprayed into the gutter on the outside to help seal the rivets-worth a try?? Ribs on a hardtop also let in water and water which enters at the back can leak in at the front...... Part of the joy of LR ownership!! Never a dull (or dry) moment. I also find 90/110 door rubbers are better than series, but need careful fitting. Ultimately water will probably still come in the door top when you go round a corner.Let us know how you get on.:-D
  10. I've seen several of his great photos all over the place. Don't know anything about him though. Is he a professional photographer? He certainly seems to have attended many shows over the years.
  11. Great story 6x6! This bit makes me giggle- "At this point Mr Vernon moved his Scammell a little further away" Quite right- I would have done this rather than having a loco and crane plus part of a bridge land on top of it :-D:-D
  12. Thor have a look here- cheers, Daz www.paddockspares.com www.brookwell.co.uk www.connectstores.com/lr www.dls-uk.co.uk BUT!! Maltings Land Rover do a 3 point belt designed for the centre seat of a landy with a bulkhead to attach the belt to. You could obviously use part of the cab frame and floor. Here is their ebay address for that product: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LANDROVER-DEFENDER-CENTRE-SEAT-BELT-CONVERSION-3-POINT_W0QQitemZ150297513256QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item150297513256&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1299%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
  13. Try the 'Speedliner' type stuff used to protect pick up beds. You can easily remove the roof and turn upside down to spray it on. Choice of colours available, but can't remember where to get it. Never tried it myself but apparently works well against leaks and condensation. I just wear waterproofs wherever I drive :coffee:
  14. Rob-Have you tried Brookwells for Land Rover parts? Quite local to me but they have a website and do mail order. They carry many more bits than the website shows. I sent them a list of parts I need and they called me with a price by return. Just a thought. Cheers. Daz

  15. Well mate, they say a change is as good as a rest! I've never had springs from Paddocks, so I'll steer clear. Glad you mentioned it as I've got the 2a to rebuild when I get home at the end of the month. I've not had any trouble with other stuff from Paddocks (fuel tanks, rads etc.). Good luck. Daz

  16. Nice one Gritineye!!:rofl::rofl:

  18. Would the Explorers used as ballast tractors have had a different gearbox etc? Surely the standard 6 speed would be a bit high geared? :confused:
  19. Hello again Thor. would love to see those photos when you get a chance. Scammells and Land rovers go well together don't they? Mine compete to see which can dump more oil on the floor first....... Anyway, great to have you here. Daz:beer:
  20. Wow! That's a seriously impressive job you've done. What's the ACMAT powered by? Daz
