  1. Built on a reliant chassis if my memory is correct? Thanks for the pic Andy. Daz
  2. Is this the Boscombe Down one 6x6? doesn't it have a mini version which is displayed with it sometimes? Daz
  3. Andy?, you still there Andy? Someone fetch a brandy!:shake::rofl:
  4. Blimey Thor! You're certainly not put off easily! Surprised I have'nt bumped into you somewhere. Hoping that I don't have too many mechanical niggles when I FINALLY hit the road again, sometime before the next millenium.......:-D
  5. "A mans gotta know the limits allowed for his signature ! :-D " Nice one Andy! - you were taking a bit of stick about that! Nice photo all the same.:rofl:
  6. How's the engine job going Rob? are you having a bit of a breather now you've got it out? I'm itching to get on with my rebuild but have to do the land rover first. All good things come to those who wait I supose! Good luck with it anyway. Cheers. Daz

  7. Ian- Here's a link to a company that supplies 3 point belts for the front centre seat of any landy with a bulkhead behind the seats. This will probably be of limited use as in my experience a newborn(rear facing) car seat will interfere with gear changing. This is not a problem in a series landy with a forward facing car seat.Best to use the outer passenger seat for baby seat if there's enough room between the seat and dash and put adult in middle(happier with a 3 point belt). Obviously there's a huge choice of seats available, so your daughter might find one which is both safe and will fit easily. We took the more expensive option and went for a 109 SW. Happy hunting :-D Daz. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LANDROVER-DEFENDER-CENTRE-SEAT-BELT-CONVERSION-3-POINT_W0QQitemZ150297513256QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item150297513256&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
  8. Welcome to the forum! There has been some confusion before as I own an Explorer christened Thor (BSV 704)too! This is unlikely to be at a show any time soon though. In fact we're not a million miles apart as I live just on the western side of the Devon/cornwall border and travel up and down through Dorset a fair bit. Nice to have another Explorer owner here. Would love to see more photos too when you have a chance.Daz
  9. I see. Thanks Antarmike. I'd not seen one with this fitted before. Cheers. Daz
  10. Welcome to the forum. Is that your Explorer? You´re in good company here. :cool2: We´re definitely going to have to make the parking area bigger too.
  11. Unfortunately I won't be looking for a supplier yet as work on the explorer has had to take a back seat whilst the various land rover bits in the garage have to be made into something MOTable by May :sweat:As far as I know most wood yards should be able to get Kerouing (not Kerowin as I thought). The price may well have dropped in the last 6 months. See my answer to your post in the other thread, if you haven't already seen the posts in the Explorer gallery. All the best and Happy new year. Daz
  12. You've been smoking that Kerouing too haven't you Andy????:nono::nono::nono:
  13. What's the red cylinder on the chassis for Gritineye? Nitrous oxide  or something more conventional like a bigger air tank for tyre inflation etc? Have to admit it's a very practical looking vehicle.
  14. Thanks for the info everybody. Mine has the same sealed unit dash and heater arrangement as Rob's photos. Mines 1955 though-single skin and unsprung towing points. Daz
  15. Anyone know the reason for two types of dashboard arrangement in Explorers? Mine came with a Military looking sealed set of guages etc, but the replacement bulkhead had a civvy looking set-up and all the holes are in a different place on the bulkhead. Mine is contract 7443, but I don't know about the donor. Any ideas? Thanks. Daz
  16. Duncan, have you seen Scammell Explorer gallery posts 623-632 for info on Keruing? :-D Daz
  17. Fantastic Younggun! Nice to see you're up and running. Looks like a lovely motor. Bet all the problems you had seem worth the effort now. Daz :-D:-D:-D
  18. Certainly seems like driver error and not the ground at fault from the pics. Go on CW, spill the beans-what was he there to recover? Something not worth this problem I bet!
  19. Or when you get it running and can pull them out of the mud when they get stuck! I've noticed two definite camps when visitors come to the farm-lorry drivers always appreciate an old Scammell lurking in the corner and have to have a peek. To most of the rest of the world it's just another pile of rust...:n00b:
  20. That does look fantastic Tom. A lovely vehicle indeed and an inspiration to the rest of us. :-D
  21. Looks like Andi's Explorer is coming along nicely Mike. There's a great satisfaction to be had in needle gunning isn't there! Wishing everyone on the forum a very Happy New Year too. Daz
  22. If that's true I'm off outside to file some bits off my cab floor and light up :shake:
  23. Sounds familiar to me! You're not alone Rob. Slow progress is sometimes the only way. Looks good though.
