  1. It looks like an early Mk 1 (note the 3 door turret). Maybe it was there for trials? How is your Saracen going? Made any more progress on getting it back on the road? I've had mine out and about, but it's off the road again until I can get one of the tyres repaired. Cheers, Terry
  2. Hi All, Does anyone know what make/model/specification of tyre tube I need to replace one on my Saracen? It has the 12.00 x 20 HS2 Run Flat tyres on it. Cheers, Terry
  3. Mine is different to the other ones that have been posted; I guess it's because it's the BSA version. I've been told that it works, but haven't messed around with it yet. Now that I've downloaded the manual, I might give it a go on the weekend.
  4. Given the year of manufacture and description, it looks like the PC is a fairly standard 486 with a 50 pin parallel SCSI hard disk in a 3.5" form-factor. With a bit of messing around, you should be able to get Windows 95 or NT 4 running on it. If you really want to try your luck, BSD should be possible too.
  5. I did see the old style jeep ones on Google, but they appear not to have the additional two holes at the bottom of the socket for additional pins and I'm not sure if they are the same size and pin-out.
  6. Hi All, Does anyone know what the pin-out for the Saracen trailer socket is? Is there a specific name for this kind of socket? Is it still possible to get plugs or converters to go with them? Cheers, Terry
  7. I've had similar conversations with people when discussing where I can park my Saracen, with the answer being, "Anywhere I bloody well want to"
  8. Does anyone have the Kremlin kit installed on their Saracen? They're bulky and as ugly as hell, but I'd really like one on mine for some reason.
  9. I've never seen one that was any good either. I'd like a decent one for my Saracen but am not too hopeful at this stage.
  10. Bargearse was an overdubbed skit from a 90s Australian television show. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Late_Show_(Australian_TV_series)#Bargearse You can look up episodes on YouTube if you're interested. She calls it that because, well, it has a wide rear end, it's kinda tough but silly, and it amuses her Cheers, Terry
  11. Very nice looking vehicle, congrats!
  12. I believe that the IMCDB has a picture of my Saracen on it; same registration number anyway! http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_430965-Alvis-FV-603-Saracen-1953.html Cheers, Terry
  13. That first pic makes it look the same size as the 101 What is the box like structure above the radiator? Some seem to have it, while others do not. Cheers, Terry
  14. Maybe to move crew and equipment around? I understand that making a movie is logistically challenging... Cheers, Terry
  15. The Saracen is fitted with a standard pintle hook and the manual suggests towing no more than one tonne. You could certainly tow more, safely, with a braked trailer but you need to be aware that it will put additional load on the drivetrain, particularly the fluid flywheel; overheat them much and the seal will fail, dumping out all of the OM-13 and leaving you on the side of the road. If you stick to on-road towing you should be fine though. Cheers, Terry
  16. Awesome work. Can you post some detail pics of the turret? I'm interested to see how it differs from the Mk 2 and Mk 5 turrets. Cheers, Terry
  17. This is my favourite vehicle camo scheme, and I've been thinking of (eventually) repainting my Saracen in it; I know that the Saracen was never painted in it in service, but it'll make me happy. Cheers, Terry
  18. Thanks Richard, The manual also shows the construction of the tool and strongly recommended its use. Cheers, Terry
  19. From what I understand, the Saladin hubs are identical to the Saracen ones, except for the brakes. They do indeed need to be timed, but according to the manual, it's a fairly simple process. Cheers, Terry
  20. The interior of the Stuart appears quite roomy. I assume that there was plenty of ammo storage originally, but should the turret have a basket? I don't really know much about them. Cheers, Terry
  21. That must explain why I've been trying to work out the legalities of importing an Alvis (Supacat) ATMP and road register it as a runabout...
  22. I'd like a Saladin to go with my Saracen too. I wonder if this is a common disease?
