  1. Hi, Have you tried the old favourite "sabre sales" down in Southsea? http://www.sabresales.co.uk/ Good luck Paul
  2. They are Quad Harpoon missile launchers. Harpoon is a medium-range (90km) anti-ship missile using inertial and active radar guidance. Paul

  5. No Trident was not there. The good (working) part of the Dockyard with all the laid up ships was not open to visitors. I also noticed that some ships that were advertised did not show up either. The main air display was the Royal Naval historic flight but due to maintenance problems, we only had the Sea Hawk and Harvard on Friday and just the Harvard for the rest of the weekend. The Red Arrows made one appearance on the Friday at 1700. It was not like the Navy days of old very much scaled down, no memorabilia stand selling goodies and no big military regiments, establishments static displays. However, I did notice the abundance of motion simulators at least 4 in one area. Catweazel I noticed you previously mentioned Gosport, are you over this side? as I work in the Royal Hospital Haslar & Fort Blockhouse which includes the Submarine museum and HMS Hornet the old gun boat establishment which is now the joint services sail training centre. 6. Here are a few snaps of the day. I was there with Mr STRIKE AND RETURN 460 and Mr JUMPBOOTS representing the D-Day museum Southsea. As we expected vast quantities of visitors (35 thousand reported), we kept our display small and compact. We were sited alongside the 1940's sing-along stage that held shows throughout the day. I would like to add there is only so many times you can hear "run rabbit run" before I had the urge to lock and load the 30 cal! Met lots veterans and like minded people and the display was well received by all that visited us. Overall a very enjoyable three days, well for some of us it was three days.....you know who im referring to!
  7. A few snaps of the Pompey Para TA 100 show vehicles
  8. Andy, If I was you I would make contact via the link I provided and they will point you in the right direction. I will give you the heads up next year via the future events section. Paul
  9. Here is the link with regards making contact for next year’s event and yes it would make a great start or end of a holiday over the Island. There was also a cheap rate on offer to MV owners when bringing their vehicles across to the show which this year was £25.00 a vehicle including as many people you can stuff inside your vehicle as possible! http://www.iwsteamrailway.co.uk/ The organisers told me that they are planning a special schools day on the Friday next year so that the children can come round the displays and we can then give them a small presentation on our displays. As Grasshopper said, it is in its infancy in this present format, as I believe it was more vehicles lined up in previous years. My only concerns is it might outgrow itself and become another Watercress "War on the Line" bun fight....lets hope not. Paul
  10. Please see a selection of pictures of this years event. Weather: Great on Friday and Saturday although very windy, Sunday was sunshine wind and showers. Event: Fantastic venue great atmosphere. Display area was nearly toppers with displays and vehicles. Few trading stands and entertainment by the Spitfires singing trio, Wavy Navy Allo,Allo show and the Lindyhoppers dance display. Air raids throughout the day. Summary: 11 out of 10 to all concerned roll on next years event. Jacks B's M1941 heater worked a treat and well worth the money only suggestion I would make it that the chimney need some guy lines to hold it in place in windy weather, repro Officers small wall tent looked the part as well.
  11. Hi, I think you will find it is just John and Mary Worthing who produce canvas items. http://www.uscanvas.com/main.htm Regards Paul

  14. Hi all Just a few snaps of the weekend unfortunately I did not get any of the beach landing. About eight US, British and German re-enactment groups there. Very good layed back and enjoyable event, small but friendly. Plenty of veterans who were very pleased with all the re-enactors efforts in remembrance to their sacrifices during the war. Army historic aircraft flypast after the church service on the Saturday and a small skirmish display on the Sunday including my jeep getting mortared by the Germans and killing me, but im ok now.
