  2. I did think that, but its an unusual size for a chevy donk, Wait a minute why are we discussing this, just show us a picture of the Chimp,Cramp,Crimp or whatever its going to get called C.W.!!
  3. Never had a problem with the plastic lenses, and they didnt steam up as bad as the S6 glass eyepieces. The S10 also had a speech module built into the opposite side from the cannister, for attaching a radio microphone. Pretty well sorted out bits of kit, a big improvement on the S6.
  4. Found some interesting video footage from Operation Banner, it is titled "A british soldier" and shows lots of clips from the troubles in Northern Ireland. Particularly it mainly features Humber Pigs as vehicles go, and what looks like Clives RUC version, taking a right good pasting, then roaring down a road and smacks its way through/over a barricade. So is the Ford 472 Cu in V8 with a very big supercharger shown partly pictured underneath the boat with :cool2::cool2::cool2: next to it, the future Champ transplant motor! :nut: You might need a stronger rear axle, a big Dana 60 is the yank rodders choice i believe, or just gut a Cobra and plonk the Champs tub onto it.
  6. Nah Garibaldis, you only get 5 biscuits in a packet but they are really long, and they conveniently put break lines in, so you dont have to put the whole thing in your mouth at once................only me then..:-D Sounds like a good event Jeff.
  7. It has to be said, the later S10 was a big improvement, you could nearly breathe through it, you could take a drink without taking it off, and the bag would actually take the respirator quite easily compared to an S6. Gas Gas Gas!!
  8. Sirhc here on this forum had the seal rebuild kits, whether he still has any left, as i bought mine about a year ago. I think the problem with the alloy lid is it is constantly in contact with the fluid inside the cylinders reservoir as there is a remote reservoir above it, but then again, its been there for a long time, so hopefully baking the moisture out should see it right for a while.

Just in the process of sorting out my brakes at the moment after a few weird braking problems, so i have pulled the brake master cylinder, stripped it down cleaned it and replaced the seals, the bore was in good shape, so it got a light honing before another thorough cleaning out. The whole lot was assembled with plenty of brake rubber grease, with a bit of brake fluid used to make sure it slid together properly. The gasket for the lid was made using the old gasket as a copy, i have a massive roll of 1mm gasket paper, that i bought off the internet for six pounds, and should last a lifetime, unless i go mad rebuilding carburettors and brake components. Just as an unusual side note, the alloy lid that covers the reservoir, absorbs water/brake fluid, when i took it off, it had an almost heavy dull plastic quality about it, when i cleaned up the cast iron cylinder i put it in the oven to dry it out for half and hour, and put the lid in as well, when it came out, the lid was alot lighter and made a ringing noise when tapped.   11. Back to what this thread does best, pictures of Pigs! These are from Londonderry Northern Ireland, the first shows a Pig with a collapsed front wheel station, the second is a Militant wrecker recovering the same vehicle.

Then you'll need all the bits and bobs to go with the 58 webbing, picks, water bottle, shovels, machete sheath and machete, helmet to go on the large pack, mess tins, ,magazines, respirator and haversack (The haversack is a collectors dream! spare cannister, fullers earth, de-misting compound, combo pens, NAPS tablets, spectacles, Survive to Fight book respirator check card etc etc)it just goes on, but look at any old sweats webbing and it is very individual on how they had it rigged, so long as they carried the required equipment, ammo etc.

It does have a certain appeal! not a shred of originality, but then its yours and your paying the bills, so whatever floats your boat, at least it is out there and certain to "Polarise" opinion (which is a good thing!) I like the chrome dancing pole in the centre for your "Hoes", CW do you think something similiar on a Champ would upset the rivet counters.....give Paris H a call! I'll be sticking with the original Puritanical sadist interior and British Fighting Green exterior on mine for the near future though! :-D

Just like Green Goddesses, which were used by the military at times of "National" emergency, and if the Russians had started to lob the man made sunshine at us, i would of been surprised if the military wouldnt of been involved with them then as well. They still have a military connection, and are a unique part of history, and worthy enough to grace the boards of this fine forum!

MHVT if you go back to the first page there is a couple of photos showing the finish, i used a Xylene based paint which dried quite quickly and used a 3" and a 1" brush! the finish came out well, alot better than the squaddy finish the army would of brushed on, but it doesnt look too flash, like a respray would.

  20. Thats a really good morse tool, you can even change the time space between the letters and adjust the pitch of the morse code. The only downside is i cant see how you can create time delays between words, to make a Morse "Conversation" more realistic, mind i could just follow it and pause and continue and make a track that way using an audio recording programme!
  21. i'd reply in morse but its hard work reading it, i have to convert it to dit dahs in my head then make the association to the character! Anyway, hello Papav66 CW = Carrier Wave, the part of the frequency used to send morse i.e USB LSB SSB and CW. The comma after my name threw me for a minute couldnt remember what it was however you didnt finish the sentence with .-.-.- !!
  22. I could do a CW morse track, using the procedure we used, at about 16 - 18 WPM which was the average speed for working CW sending an encrypted message with a bit of operator correction and circuit engineering chatter on it, if anybody is interested......

You couldnt take it off the road anyway, you are usually too busy winching somebody or something out of whatever or doing a suspended tow of somebody, and you need it to move/service your increasing fleet! You probably have a more interesting "Working" exhibit for it, so stuff the originality freaks, anyway they couldnt count the rivets, too much mud :-D Snapper, paint Askari on your vehicle, its yours you pay the bills, if its your interest, go ahead, and if anybody asks about it, its a story in itself.
