  1. I have been busy painting the Pig and the Brockhouse trailer to go with it over the Easter weekend, still some stuff to sort out with it, but its all coming together! The trailer looked a bit of a state prior to attacking it with hammers, a hi-lift jack to straighten out the tub and an angle grinder fitted with a twisted wire brush to flatten out the 1/8th inch of flaking paint in places.
  2. It has been repainted Olive Drab, one of the many original shades i found when grinding it down.
  3. This is my Brockhouse 1 Ton 2 wheel trailer G.S. that had been converted to a 2.5 Kva Generator trailer and used by the Royal Signals. I purchased it from Anchor Supplies in Nottingham last year for 170 quid, and towed it back up to Aberdeenshire, where it has steadily been flaking paint until last weekend, when i attacked it with a twisted wire brush on an angle grinder!
  4. Brockhouse 1 Ton trailer that i started to fix up over the weekend, it was adapted at some point to carry two generators putting out 120/240 volt 2.5 Kva. I purchased mine from Anchor Supplies in Nottingham for 170 pounds last year, it was a bit battered and still had odd fittings left over from when the generators had been removed prior to disposal.
  5. Of course it doesn't, if you had paid attention the first time round, the ASSFART has hydrofoils keep it completely stable....jeez some people! :n00b: For those who dont know what the hell is going on here, this is the condensed information about "Assault Shed Stealth Fast Attack/Recce Type" Developed during the war by a Swedish designer after a frustrating start in flat pack furniture, the ASSFART was a revolutionary shed with hydrofoils and a cloaking device, used extensively during beach operations, they soon disappeared after the war, only occasionally turning up on a remote island, been used as holiday homes/drugs dens. After the cessation of hostilities the Russians quickly realised that they needed the capabilities of an ASSFART for the Cold War but could not find a homegrown designer, so they kidnapped Benny the Swedish designer, who eventually escaped the clutches of the Iron Curtain in a hot air balloon, and returned home to take up an alternative career as a musician in a quartet band that had reasonable success. Now you know.
  6. Ricin was the poison that they used, i was just about to answer with the same thing!
  7. A matched pair of Mk1 RF on the rear axle and a matched pair of Mk2 RF Reinforced, so 40 on the rear and 30 on the front. I guessed previously at 35 psi all round, so not too bad! When i first collected my pig, i thought it had interesting handling characteristics, all of my tyres were 0 psi! couldnt visually see any difference when i put wind in them, but the handling was a big improvement (for a Pig).
  8. If you want BIG, weird and impressive there is only one place to go.......Russia! Imagine a Hagglunds but massive with a 30 ton payload that will go over or through anything, swims and has massive pulling power, you should see the way it drags out a Russian MBT that is buried in snow:-
  9. Clive, do you have tyre pressures for a MK1, looked in the user handbook but i cant find any referencei have a couple of sets of military issue brass stencils that were used by paint shops, so when i get the final coats of Olive Drab on, the next thing will be marking it up with TP's and Lubrication markings etc.
  10. Give Croc a PM, he has the blueprint plans for the rear bodywork of an Explorer, which has dimensions etc.
  11. Mmmm, lovely! getting shot to bits and swimming in diesel!
  12. There was an incident of a ground engineer performing engine runs on a Lightning, he ran up the Twin Avons to full re-heat, and then it jumped off the chocks/brakes failed, the only option he had was to pull back on the stick, and get airborne, and he didnt have the option of punching out, as the ejection seat had all of its safety pins in place! And he did manage to land it safely.
  13. First time one goes operational, it will be under scrutiny by the enemy, and by the time they have thrown everything at it, they will know what its about, fortunately, with exception of the usual Land Rover stuff, they all look pretty good, id rather be in the Panther or a Mastiff any day compared to the Snatch. I do like the go faster spoiler on the Scimitar, they must have the toy manufacturing rights on that!!
  14. A massively over armoured bulkhead, with no leg room for the commander! Is this a fore-runner development mule to the Op Bracelet armouring programme? as it still has its MK1 windshields.
  15. As a taster, just a few of the Military vehicles lined up for the show, Saladin, Saracen, Centurion AVRE, CMP & 25 Pounder with limber, Scammell, various other recovery trucks, jeeps, landrovers, Humber Pig, Snowtrack, Caterpillar D2 and a little Fergie tractor (It's cute!) and thats just for starters. We will probably have a road run on the Sunday morning, nothing too major, just to blow the cobwebs out and get them seen. Allan has starred and really sorted out decent access to the site, and is sorting out the rough play area for those who want to safely play around in tracked vehicles or show off their vehicles off-road capabilities. Entry forms, directions to get to the show and a map of the site is on the website link in the above earlier posts.
  16. Looks like kids cruisin down to Tesco's in Corsas!
  17. Get yourself a MOBAT Unimog outfit as in the Humber pig thread, very unusual, and epic off-road!
  18. The SCLI had it captioned as a Wombat, but then i suppose that was the later variant, and its a tube on wheels in much the same vain, hence the photo title error. Good photos though! which is the main thing!
  19. The pigs seem to keep company with the Wombat Unimog, they would of been expecting some fierce street fighting in Berlin, and the two platoons of infantry travelling with the wombat platoon, would of been engaged in alot of face to face encounters with the russians had it gone hot, so maybe it was a modification to allow fire to the front while remaining hatches down, giving the infantry covering fire to allow them to de-bus. SCLI Unimog towing Wombat
  20. It looks like a modification so that a weapon can be fired forward by the vehicle commander, the slot is off right of centre and the bulge forward would give more space to operate a weapon, then again it might be a food blender! Official though? who knows, cue clive!
  21. OK, here it is, but what is it, appears on all of the pigs belonging to the SCLI. The modification to the commanders hatch looks like it is still held open on the hatch lever.
  22. Some more photos of Humber pigs, this time its the Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry, The parade picture is Allied forces day, berlin 1963, the second picture is SCLI with two pigs and a Unimog/Wombat outfit. But what is strange about the Pigs in the photos........
  23. You could have been a main player for defence contracts! especially with Rab C Nesbitt and dodgy hatted/vested friend working on the yellow landrover!
  24. Here we go, found Hobsons on the web, read a bit about them sometime ago, a proper "Where theres muck theres brass" family business, looks like they are doing well for themselves:- http://www.hobsonindustries.co.uk/what-we-do/green-machine/
  25. Im not an expert on these, but i think that the Weapons Mount Installation Kit was a fit for the Wolf/XD110, so the introduction would of been some time shortly after the Wolf XD110/XD90 came into service in 1996. If anybody finds an original WMIK wolf or later variation that is still driveable i would be surprised, they are getting recycled and rebuilt by a company called Hobsons industries, i think the few that are running around in civvy hands are totally rebuilt B.E.R. wrecks.
