  1. We've gone down the halogen route at Shuttleworth for our projector which we use at our flying proms and other events. It did make me laugh seeing the beam at night at war and peace when we have been warned by the caa about informing them and getting a licence before using it, or else. Hopefully he didn't get in trouble for using it as the vehicle looked great.
  2. Hello I've recently obtained a Continental Y91 four cylinder side valve engine in great condition which was going to be scrapped as no-one wanted it. The engine is painted olive drab but the only thing google can tell me it was used on was a 1950's tractor, does any one know if they were used to power generators or compressors in the military? Cheers
  3. sorry I've been a bit busy trying to fix the dodge and the jeep for beltring and now we are back i'll try and get a copy of the picture we had sent from the photographer and if your lucky i'll try and put up a picture from a photoshoot 'what Katie did' had with the ambulance while down in Kent!
  4. Well I thought it was, it's the first time our dodge has got into a major magazine.
  5. Thats what my thoughts go to as well, definatly doesn't look JP.
  6. Has anyone seen this months Flypast, very nice picture on pages 58-59 :-D
  7. Some fantastic pictures there, I spoke with one of our artists at Old warden during the last show, telling him about our forthcoming trip to Normandy and he told me about being a draftsman for the mullberrys and how he came ashore on D+4 on juno beach at a place called Graye-sur-mer, which is where the campsite is we will be staying on, as we did 5 years ago. Small world ain't it
  8. Some good pics of the aircraft, hopefully next time you'll see Peter's toys a bit more complete. I missed the scale BR2 unfortunatly its always fun recovering the aircraft to the airfield, during a model show I remember having to chase down the main runway doing a FOD check while the Bristol Fighter buzzed me at about 20 feet.:-D Will be ground crewing tomorrow evening but I don't think the weather wants to play fair.
  9. Was a very good show last time we went (our ambulance and jeep can be seen behind the other ambulance in the second from last pic) unfortunatley we're on the wrong side of the channel could be at loads of shows that weekend!!! Hope all who go enjoy themselves.

  11. Ok not trying to cause problems, I was just thinking of the poor owner, anyway he says fingers crossed for june flights for this magnificent aircraft. Steve.
  12. Hello can any of the mods change the title from crash lands to tips over please? The hurri didn't crash it just had a bit of a problem with the brakes on landing after a normal safe approach, luckily the pilot wasn't hurt but as has already been commented with a propstrike like this, with metal prop blades, a lot of damage can be caused to the engine. But the owner can consol himself with his spit, p40, mustang or jeep in the meantime. Hope to see it back in the air soon.
  13. Would this still count if the RIF was manufactured for a museum, and what would the possible sentance be? I have seen quite a few wooden ones with metal parts up for sale recently.
  14. That was the idea behind it we got quite a few pics but we didn't know the tree was on the parkland until my sister noticed it after we'd got to the top of the hill, we now know where to head to each year when it snows. Steve.
  15. My brother got hold of a museum bike stand for the back wheel and it was well stamped down into the ground but I was amazed the bike never fell over aswell.
  16. Hi hopefully this works the pictures were taken at Old warden on monday. Steve

    Dodge Mot

Which is why she gets her MOT the bits and bobs are a few display boards, boxes and a BSA Parabike and the odd few spares. We drove her for the first year without an MOT as we had been told when we bought her she was exempt (usual things; its an ambulance built before 1960 so it'll be ok) when it came around for renewal I asked my local post office about it they said to talk to the DVLA who said "we're not sure" and put me in contact with the department that classifies vehicles who asked me a few questions and then said, sorry but you do need an MOT. We were lucky for a year and I hate to think what would have happened if we had an accident and were proven to not have a MOT when we needed it. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

    Dodge Mot

The WC54 is going for an MOT on monday and despite being told by the previous owner it is not MOT exempt and the place I get it tested has its own weigh bridge, with a few bits and bobs in the back she weighes 2500 Kg.
  20. Come down to old warden on sunday and you'll see us using a fergie, a super dexta, a Allis 'B' a ferguson-Brown and an Austin to tow aircraft of the right era about same as we always do every airshow. That is if I sort out why the Austin's fuel system has bunged up again:argh:
  21. Ok it's a shame as your display last year was very good, will look for you but i guess with you in civies i'll be easier to spot :-D
  22. It'd be good to see you again Rob if you need anything for your display seek out either me or Kevin and we'll see what we can do.
  23. The weather was grey with a little bit of wet in the air but everything went perfectly a big thankyou to anyone who came as although the weather wasn't great we did have a few people turn up hope fully better weather for june 1st as it is a WW1 themed show.
  24. Not sure on weather but we'll still put a show on anyway :-D
  25. Can't see anything about Shuttleworth in your link i'll have to buy the mag and see for myself, p.s. we're having a sunset flying display on saturday evening, vehicle parade at about 4, flying starts at 5, hopefully the wet and wind will not be making an appearance.
