Well I have to admit to loosing the webbing strap that was in plain view where I had hung it on spare wheel carrier............you were both impressed, I could tell by your expressions. :n00b: By the way, are there any the pix of the Explorer tows Abbot master-class display on Sunday lurking about??......................................:coffee:
  2. Correct, but when the higher temp thermostat eventually opens and in the unlikely event the water in the rad gets near boiling (hot day big hill, no fan remember) how would you know the experiment has failed?
  3. And then you could try just taking the fan off, it's free, I've run vehicles for years without a fan, you need a temp gauge though, just to check.

  12. Hi Alan, Andy's right we can't get enough details of how Explorers were in service, especially those little mods that are often removed by restorers as they are not see as "original". Welcome to the forum.
  13. No but I did spot the shiney door handles, same as the Islay one, did you notice how the Explorer appeared to be winching on shore at the same time as the Foden was reversing past it on the LST?? And what was the Trewela winch doing?

  17. David, what that rather embarrassing film doesn't show is that the next day, straight after the gearbox was fixed, the petrol engine self destructed and after being towed home Forceful was left to rot in a field for two years!

  19. I have loads of pix, video of Steve Guest's unrestored one, we tried to get the engine turning over by towing etc. can post if anyone interested. Also some detail pix of the runner, want one so bad..........
