  1. Hi Andrew My own Humber box was also rebuilt in 1955 by Henleys, maybe they did a batch of them. I always thought it a bit of a waste really since mine was sold off in yorkshire 2 years later.. They hardly got their moneys worth from the repair / rebuild. kind regards nick
  2. Hi Jules Mike Kelly who produced the drawings some time ago (was it really 2003?) sent me a copy of them at the time. We were at that time involved with a Chevrolet C8 restoration. Let me know of you need a copy, its an age since I've spoken to Mike but feel sure that he wouldn't mind if it was helping another restorer. They were produced for a Morris commercial 8cwt restoration. kind regards Nick
  3. If I may add something to this pot, I have also been trying to decode some medical classifications. I came across this desription but what does it mean? where was it? 'Trans to D1: List. Pen Bullet wounds chest. No47 British (NWE) FFL D Station' This came from a RAC wound card. regards Nick
  4. Hi All I have been trying to decode the serials on a postwar rebuild plate and wondered if any reader could add a little more maybe? The plate claims an 'S' Repair was carried out on 4/55 at B269, Which i understand to be a commercial garage. What would an 'S' repair denote, is it a grade of rebuild? additionally the vehicle reg is 79ZB85, I haven't previously noted any ZB registrations, maybe just not looking closely enough. Does ZB mean it is likely to be ex RAF? Interestingly this vehicle was in private ownership in Manchester by Sept 1958, so was presumably disposed of earlier in the year, Are there any disposal catalogues out there that may list it for sale the vehicle is a Humber Box regards nick
  5. Hi I am pleased to say this Humber was not cut up, its partner vehicle however was reclaimed for parts. This Humber has been in my shed for nearly 15 years. It is safe and very very complete but still needs restoratation regards Nick

Now I have to do it myself for my kids.. Hope your well, at least the interest in MV's is a constant! kind regards nick

Shed full of stuff that never sees the road... maybe thats just the way it goes! that and the geography. Any way how do you post pictures on this forum? regards nick

  25. Hi fellas Have been collecting military vehicles for a number of years, I still own the willys jeep I rebuilt as a school boy back in 1980, Along the way I have accumluated a few other toys, though living way up north as I do (well sort of...) I don't get out as often as I'd like too... A couple of rug rats slows you down a little too! But the vehicle collection currently comprises, 1943 Willys MB, EX USMC Italy. 1943 Chevrolet C8A Heavy Utility Personel. ICI, 1943 Chevrolet C8A HUA Ambulance, ex Ian McCallum, ex Bart Vanderveen, Chevrolet C15, No 11 cab, unrestored, long range project. been on the back burner for 20 years, its a very early contract 2002 chevrolet 1940. 1940 Chevrolet C8 Wireless truck, restored and very quick. Humber heavy utility, 1942, unrestored but very complete, (on the short list for the treatment), 1967 AMC Mechanical Mule, EX USMC Vietnam period, great around the garden! 1944 Universal carrier, No2 mK2*, just arrived, I have waited years to find a good one of these, so I'm real pleased to be looking after this one for a while. additionally, several trailers, generators and assorted scrap that I keep meaning to tidy up!!!.. Basically, I suppose, I'm a CMP Anorak. The CMP C8A ambulance was the holy grail vehicle and it was the sight of this vehicle which first got me started, so to eventually own it is a real priviledge Now show me those 9.00 * 16 track grip tyres!!! regards nick
