  1. I'm still picking bits of that house out of the M3... Pictures will follow in due course, but it was such a shame that the weather deterred many from coming along. I managed to hold the whole German armoured column up with the D2 on the Saturday 'parade', Adam had to have a push from the 101st boys on the Sunday.... This is/was a very very good show, supported by someone with all the right intentions. Whilst this thread is a show report, i must add my thanks to Stuart, Brian and the rest of the team who organised the event. I was only involved on the edges, but was very conscious of the sheer amount of grunt, brain power and patience which has gone in to setting it up. The highlight for me, unquestionably (even beyond getting the CAT, Stude and M14 there on their maiden outings) was getting a ride as a gunner in Kev Burden's tank - and yes, pressing the fire button 5 times during the Sat battle. An experience i will never forget and i suspect will only be equalled when the sherman is doing the same thing. The CAT, Stude, GMC, WC62, M3, M14, Slat, DT and Ford script are all back in the care home getting ready for Croft next month. Rick, it was good to meet you, sorry the carrier didn't make it,but there's always next year when hopefullyi will not be saying the same thing about the sherman. With a fair wind we should have the WC16 and the Carryall there as well...... Ken
  2. Just PM'd you, i might have a better solution if you know the gent concerned..... Ken
  3. They are in Leeds, LS27 0PU. If you want to come and take them off, they will be even cheaper.... Regards Ken
  4. Two drums like these Howard? They are surplus to my requirements, let me know if you are interested, although it will be a while before i can get the spannering time to remove them....They are from a split GMC rear axle as far as i know. Ken
  5. It did, we actually had two heavy weights on the back. It was right on the limit using that to get her out of the container but we had no other option at the time. Ken
  6. Good luck, 99.9% to do means you have made a start, and you won't complete it without starting it... Regards Ken
  7. Never mind the restorations, we've enough on loading fuel into the vehicles for next weekend. It's been a challenge... But we're getting there.... Could not get number five out without resorting to using Stu's special hammer! The Pugh patented piston persuader managed to get it down, but we could not move it back up and did not want to take the crank out if we could avoid it. All six are back in now (including a new no5, couldn't reuse that) and she's turning over. As we said, it's the closest to running it's been in all the time Stu's owned her....
  8. Could well be Adrian. I have not done much research on this one. She arrived about 8 weeks ago, and was put back together with the bits i had. I will have some before pictures somehwere, will dig them out. Now, to get the M14 completed as well...... Ken
  9. We have had a photo blight of the restoration, i don't know why, probably too busy trying to get her ready for the ball, but thought you might like to see some pictures of the D2 with her make up on at last... Ken
  10. There will be spam a plenty, in fact, catering is going to be a pretty much full time job this year, as some how i have had an influx of drivers and 'tentsmen/women'. I think word has got out, firstly about the cafe and secondly about how good this event is going to be.... Ken
  11. If you see any of my vehicles at a show, do not report me! I take the tax discs out and take the number plates off them all - sometimes forget to put them back in/on when we set off. We have been stopped a couple of times, and the officers have always been interested in the vehicle and have been happy that as long as i can produce a valid tax disc, that's always been OK. The first time it happened in one of the half tracks, i had a tail from a patrol car for about 1/2 a mile. Was busy thinking of a way to get the tax disc fitted and the number plates on while i was driving..... The patrol car pulled in to the petrol station after me, and all the officers wanted, was to know if they could take a picture of themselves in it. I echo the "what has it got to do with you comment". Having just fought my way successfully through being accused of using a mobile while driving, which i genuinely was not, i can attest to the sheer faff factor in sorting such allegations out! Ken
  12. The battlefield site has gone from this:- To this, thanks to the herculean efforts of a small group of people who know who they are. There is a lot more set up than the images show, but battery failure (in the camera and the Landrover ironically) put paid to any more images on Saturday! And it's not completed yet...... Ken
  13. Stu, ring Ian Richardson, i'll send you his number. He will be able to tell you...... Ken
  14. Thanks Hanno. My primary interest in these was that they are A. Serman, and B. In good condition. All the others i had seen were in terrible condition. At least this way, i can install these and wait until i trip over the correct ones in due course. More pressing now is the clutch release bearing mount and the turret basket. Every step is getting us a step closer now though..... Ken
  15. It is the best i have come across so far Adrian, but the search goes on. If anyone wants to swap for the correct pattern, in serviceable condition, let me know, these will not be being fitted for a few months yet. As an aside, your TW bolts are packed up with the Cletrac compressor for Paul. He said i could ship it all to him and he would sort out collection with you for the bolts, is that OK? I am sorry it has taken so long, and i still have not unpacked everything yet, so the release bearings you said were there have not surfaced yet - but if they are there they will..... Ken
  16. More sherman news, the front seats have arrived courtesy of my favourite (and only) aunt, who lives in Florence, Italy. We're staggering on with her (the sherman that is). Ken
  17. I dind't know it was the mayor either until we met him in the bar later that evening.....
  18. It's been a long time since we posted anything about the Sherman, but we are staggering on with it. 0 time engine has arrived, NOS gearbox, most of the turret traverse set up, pedals, dash board, prop shaft and some other smaller parts (thanks in part some fellow HMVFers who ahve gone out of their way to assist). Still looking for a turret basket, all fuel tanks, fuel tap block/taps/connectors, clutch release bearing mounting bracket.... Ken
  19. We provided a back drop for some of the wedding photographs for the wedding reception on the Sat evening as well.... It was a good do as far as we were concerned. The trip in to town on the Sat am was entertaining. It was market day so the place was rammed anyway. Heading up the convoy was the Mayor of Northallerton, who initially headed up the convoy in one of those hand powered disabled tricycle things - like a bicycle, but you power by turning a crank with your hands. Having caused mayhem getting up the high street, being overtaken eventually by everything in front of me (in the GMC), he promptly leapt off it, abandoned it at the side of the road and disappeared in to the crowd, in a very Andy and Lou way (Little Britain). Ken
  20. I had the Hillman for about 3 years, reg was FUM 310. It was blue with black wings when i had it, with blue leather interior. It did me fine for the period i owned her. I am pretty sure someone told me they had seen it around, repainted as a staff car. I will have a hunt for the books, which are one of those things that i can always 'find' when i am looking for something else! Ken
  21. I had a 1938 Hillman Minx Saloon as my second car, a step upfrom a 1932 Austin 10. I will almost certainly still have a manual for it somewhere and a photocopy of the parts list. If they are of interest, let me know, i will have a hunt for them and they are yours if you want them. Regards Ken
  22. Mine are both on 9 x 20 Tony, and Stu's has arrived with 9 x 20 fitted. I'll turn some 8.25s up eventually, but as with lots of things, the trick is not to be in a hurry - which i know does not help you out! Ken
