  1. Nice to see you all enjoyed yourselfs. I thought you was all staying sunday night as well and returning Monday.

    Well Ian,

the truth being was that the duty Range warden (cant remember his title) caused a few ruffled feathers :n00b: also on the sunday there was up to 4000 walkers/runners on the plain doing a sponsered walk/run many of which got a good coating of dust by persons unknown :dunno:, and with local disputes being fought over it was decided to break camp on the Sat PM.

but after a 35(+-) mile off road drive i belive we all thought that the weekend was complete as could be and with rain in the offing it was best to head for the hills.

  3. Hi lightweight,

as far as i know Khaki, or dark earth matt was the basic colour for British vehicles C.1942 as during those days of black and white film (reconnaissance) the ground showed up in a very light colour.

On the log sheet of my ford the colour on de-mob is khaki as of 1959, when according to all regulations it should have been Bronze green or stone in colour :dunno:

  5. Ta!

I have been advised that during the war, Jeeps were all green regardless of which service was using them. I had assumed that RAF ones would be blue, anyone got a definitive answer?

    Hi,

one publication has stated that air base jeeps were` blue`but there is pictorial evidence of different colours such as `follow me jeeps`, & desert jeeps. Early british vehicles (possibly jeeps) were painted Kahki (or dark earth matt).

As for green i belive that there were several different shade of this colour in use.

  6. Hi Guys

The question about arrivals has been brought up and to be quite monist with you I think the best thing is come on the Saturday morning. If everyone is in and tented up we could go for a short trot out later. Tony

    Hi Jack,

PM us your trave detail if finalised yet, we could be using the same route.
