1. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Try making a model diorama of that photo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You would need several hundreds of kits and a whole lot of shelf space !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would give a kidney and my back teeth ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, (OK ,,,,,,,, JUST MY BACK TEETH) to have a real one of these too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Closest I have ever been is the use of my brother's Mahindra (great pedigree and lovely off road) ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and my five year ownership of a L/R 110 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you think there might be a few buried safely in a desert somewhere waiting for me to stumble across sometime ????? Nige
2. Hi Andy Having helped out in cutting the rust out of the Landy 110 County 1 Stationwagon I used to own, I can get an impression of the work you are having to put into the size of that machine !!!!!!!!!!! Do you often wonder if the option of swapping to the brand new cab would have been any less work than your cut and paste job here ???????????? Will be looking in on the rust killing from time to time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nige
3. Hi Malcolm Someone passed this web site on to me that might be of some use to you !!!!!!!!! What model sites are you posting your 1/24 build on ???????? http://www.land-rover-lightweight.co.uk/Clansman.html I post on Armorama and Britmodeller as Okdoky Hope to see your build blog All the best Nige
4. When I was a novice driver doing DROPS familiarization on the driving ranges at Salsbury, we had one of the novice drivers roll his drops driving in a tank trap with only a simulated load of concrete blocks. He had not taken it too high up the incline driving out off the tank trap to achieve the roll !!!!!!!!!!!!! It left the truck and load on its side with a tide line of the silt exactly halving the cab. Pulled out it had a very unique look to the field applied camo !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nige
5. Thanks Paul Now I am looking for as much info on the TM 8 Tonne and 14 Tonne so that I can build 1/24 of these too !!!!!!!!!! Anything you might have available, or would you know of anyone in the know ???????? Here is the build log as how I put it together !!!!!!!!!!!! Glad you like ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but I still want a real one too !!!!!!!!!!! http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8175 Nige
6. I liked mine so much I built my own !!!!!!!!! Me at Gutersloh in the early 90's on TA annual camp ! OK it's only 1/24, but it is as close as I will probably get to driving them again if I don't get a Lotto win !!!!!!! I loved the off roading with these and the other trucks I got a chance to drive in during my nine years with the TA. Unfortunately I never got a chance to drive any for of tracked vehicles. You lucky buggers that can afford to buy and keep one running really make me green with envy !!!!!!!!!!!!! Nige
7. Hi Gary I would be more than interested in getting a set of manuals for the TM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Need them for a model build so I can get dimensions and detailing right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope he gets on to doing the TM manuals too !!!!!!!!!! Nige
8. Hi Toner and Steve !!!!!!!!! Thanks for the welcome to the forum !!!!!!!!!!! Some great pieces of kit being held by folks and making me totally envious !!!!!!!! Had a chance to drive a Scammell Pioneer a while back and was grinning from ear to ear for days after !!!!!!!!! Lotto win ,,,,,,,,,, where are you ???????????????????? I have put out feelers with the Scottish forum and see where that takes me. Thanks for the heads up !!!!!!!!!! Hopefully I will get some more pointers soon !!!!!!!!! Nige
9. Hi Folks I am looking for help from someone in the know, or better still someone in Scotland who owns Bedford TM's to get in touch if possible. I build military models in 1/24 scale and am looking to buikd a Bedford TM 8T 4x4 and a TM 6x6 from plasticard. To do this I need to build up good reference information, critical dimensions and photos of the real thing so that I can make the models as accurate as possible. The 1/24 DROPS build I am just about finished Hope someone can assist. All the best Nige
10. Hi Folks I am an EX TA driver with the Rickshaws, Camels and Taxis / RLC from 1989 through to 1998. Whilst I would love to own the real thing, having a young family and no money means I am stuck with only building models of the vehicles I drove in 1/24 scale during my time in the TA. So far I have nearly completed the Leyland/DAF 8x6 DROPS and King trailer, http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8175 I am half way through a Landrover Lightweight and Sanky trailer, http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64146 I am hoping that folks in the know, and those with the real vehicle might be prepared to help me with my latest project. A Bedford TM build (possibly two builds in tandem) a 4x4 and a 6x6 General Service and Cargo bodies. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=234917334 I need some basic chassis rail dimensions and detailing to get me started, as I need to scratch build chassis rails and cross members from bare plasticard. When I built the DROPS, I had total access to take photos and dimensions over time. Unfortunately, there are no TM's local to me in Stirling, Scotland that I know of. Perhaps someone might have one or know a man who has !!!!!!!!!!! Hope you like the builds and can help me further. Cheers from a sunny Scotland Nige
