  1. I,ve also got a SEME document stating 6.9 ltrs but in the Abbot user handbook Part 1 Vehicle army code 14311 1965 (which is a far more informative manual than the 432 one)it states the Capacity(swept volume) as 400.92 cu in or 6.57 ltrs.I would believe this to be right.:coffee: Dave P
  2. Quote taken from a SEME Bordon literature dated 1990:coffee:--When running pack up outside vehicle, always have transfer box disconnecter engaged and remove prop, with it disengaged only safe to run for 3 mins:nono: due to build up of oil in t/box,I think this is where you re coming from. In the late 60,s/early 70,s we used to run these things up for ages to get the temps up especially if you had fitted and were testing a new g/box on a rig, happy days?:cool2: On your problem ,check the simple obvious things first, circuit breakers/fuses, loose or disconnected wires etc after that it,s like Mike says go through with a cicuit tester. Any probs give me a call 07711245690 I have got some SEME fault finding literarure which has helped me in the past good luck DaveP
  3. Hi there I,ve got a 432/30 if you ever need any info or help DaveP

Hi Dave I,m 10 miles north of Hereford and have a 432 mk2/1 fitted with rarden turret which you are welcome to look at:wow:,I,ve also got a 434 as well:cool2: if you want to compare Cheers DaveP
  7. Looks like a pack out job soon and a good service and spring clean, all that oil has come from somewhere.:nono: Doesn,t look like its had a birthday for a while:sweat: Dave P
  8. Should be the same as on the 432,looking in through the front hatch it is to the left of the bottom crank damper and connected to a hose which is directed to the front hull plug hole although this hose is quite often missing. I,ve got some spare taps etc here if you are stuck:) Did you get fixed up with the bits for your rear bench? and sort yor crane out Dave P
  9. My 434 outer ram has always been very slow with no load, always as if needing a bit of weight on the jib like Ian says.:argh:It also seems to make the pump seem to work hard when in the lower pos when not loaded. I did have a bit of a problem with a low pessure return hose on the right side of the control swelling up and blocking the return once, some one had used ordinary hose not oil resistant.I had terrible trouble getting the air out of it all after,I hung a pack on the end of the jib and worked it up and down for ages, still slow though. I put it down to the nature of the beast:cool2::cool2: Good luck Dave
  10. Which Dave?:???:???:??? I,m not barred am I?:n00b: Dave P
  11. I,ve got a spare workbench somewhere at the back of my shed:idea: if you want one,I,m sure I,ve seen it there:wow::wow: DaveP
  12. Lift locking lever and pull A back.It may not engage,if not, keep a gentle pressure on it and operate the starter from the remote starter control(situated on the rear bulkhead inside rear hatch under crane contol)and you should be in business. There,s a hand throttle situated just in front of the switch.Have fun.:-D:-D:-D DaveP
  13. Phil In extreme cold :shake:etc when you need all your bat power just to crank the motor.Get motor warm, switch off, reconnect g/box,away to go.The purpose being no drag from g/box when cranking motor. Hopefully you should never need to do this:cool2: DaveP
  14. Forgot to ask, where roughly in the world are these vehicles DaveP
  15. Difficult everything:argh: but hours of fun playing with knobs and switches. Like I said before,it would be interesting to see how complete it is and whether it runs and drives. If it does it must be worth the money,if it does not it may cost you.The detroit motor itself and the allison transmission are pretty robust bits of kit, it,s just getting at them:rofl: Is it pos to get a good look around it,if I can help in any way give me a shout daveP
  16. Tracked Rapier:shake::shake::shake: Been there, done that, would,nt have another.:nono: At the same time it,s certainly worth saving as is the 432. Price would depend on how complete it is and if it,s a good runner, some seem to be 'de-activated/robbed' more than others. They are absolute b******* to work on:argh: Are you looking to make him an offer. Terry Brookes had a couple of them I believe. DaveP
  17. I have to agree with you on that one Chris, I,ve been messing around with my 43's for a number of years and in the right hands they're a good durable bit of kit that do not take or cost a lot to fix!!! I,ve also never had any problem registering them!! Right, I,d better get down off my soap box,the nurse is coming with my medication:nut: they don,t normally let me stay up this late:nono: Dave P
  18. I saw that 434 in Wayne Meadows yard when I came to the Plains bash beginning of May.Looked half decent but it was on a trailer and I did not bother to get up and have a look inside. The only things that stood out were the rams were quite corroded and it had handrails welded to the rear bench etc so it must have been used for giving rides or something.Did,nt hear it running. Are you thinking of buying,I,ve got a 434 and they,re not a bad bit of kit.:cool2: If i can supply any info to you just ask,I have got a few odd bits about plus plenty of pack bits:-D Dave P
  19. Thats my 434 with a pack on the end of it at Kemble :cool2: If you're looking for an engine I've got some incomplete packs with engines if you're interested,I've also got one recon pack with 52hrs if anyone is interested, moving shed soon so I need the room:red: DaveP
  20. About as much chance as getting my Landrover water proof:rofl::rofl::rofl:
  21. Tony Warned you about the build qualities of the old Landrover, taking the floor out next year so as it will drain back out quicker:rofl::rofl: Found your scarf in the back, missus complemented the smell of the aftershave, what aren't you telling me?:red: Mind you she then thought it would suit the dog:rofl:(scarf not the smelly) Thanks to all involved on the SPTA team DaveP ps How do you want me to get the said item to you,is there someone coming to Kemble I can give it to,Pete said he was coming maybe.
  22. Welsh Worriers demand a dope test!:cool2::rofl::rofl::rofl:
  23. Tony No need for you to say goodbye to the wife,we've already done that for you:rofl::rofl::rofl:. Seriously though,if things should change during the day, drop me an e mail or ring 07711245690,the 434 is ready to roll and I won't be starting on the L/Rover until I get home from work tonight:sweat: Tell Roy to try turning the chillers on the beer pumps,it'll do wonders for his beer!!! Dave
  24. Tony You think it would be cold and wet on the 434,you haven't had the pleasures of my L/Rover.The heater does work but it fights a loosing battle against the elements coming in through the gaps:shake:. Good news is Dougy is coming with his Lightweight,we're going to have our own little convoy on Sat morning arriving late am all being well. He,s also bringing his new girlfriend along so best behaviour and no 'fishy' stories!:cool2: DaveP
  25. Guinness for brekkie!:cool2: sounds ok to me:rofl:
