  2. Tony, tell them if we cant have tracks you,ll end up getting wet again!:cool2::cool2: DaveP
  3. I will not be able to resist having a shuffty to see what has been giving me this grief.As for carrying out any repair ,thats another matter:cool2::cool2: The old pig has thrown quite a few probs at me over the last 12 mths but I must admit I,ve quite enjoyed it all and I havent been daunted,confused at times,yes!! Like you say Clive,you learn an awful lot when things are going wrong DaveP
  4. It is the generator Clive,:cry: tried it all out this morning ,fording caps checked etc and still the same. Looking in through the mesh grill on the rear at high revs it looked to be turning quite slowly and by pushing a small screwdriver through against the nut I was able to stop the genny turning easily so something must have gone amiss internally:-(.I,ll take it off in the next few days and have a look inside,i,ve got nothing to lose.In the mean time I,ll look for a replacement,may put a single speed one on depending on what I can find.There,s no extra radio batteries to worry about charging. I,ll report back in when I find out what ailed it DaveP
  5. I,ll have another look tomorrow Clive and let you know how I get on. Its all interesting stuff:cool2::cool2: DaveP
  6. Clive, everything working fine at low revs, its just when the revs are high Dave
  7. Pig problems I,ve had are no light -no charge, replaced fuse wire in gen panel then light goes out but only very low charge at low revs and no charge at high revs, ie when the clutch in the 2 speed operates. Tried a n.o.s gen panel I,d got and now have 27.5v and light out at low revs but light back on and no charge at high revs. Looking in the back of the gen the fan looks to be turning very slowly at higher revs so I,m presuming trouble in the gen g/box.:-(:-( Anyone had any dealings in the g/box area of these things or does anyone know of one for sale:cool2::cool2: Must admit, looking inside the old gen panel it all looks ok.:nut: Cheers DaveP
  8. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.If you go to his place you,ll be impressed,lovely place!There is another chap at Canon Pyon area but I dont know him.Keith s a very fussy chap and I,m sure would do a good job, his truck used to be absolutely immaculate.Let me know how you get on DaveP

  16. They never go staight:shake:,make sure your tracks are adjusted and ok and your steering linkage is adjusted correctly and enjoy:yay: DaveP
  17. I wouldnt read too much into the veh regs,to the best of my knowledge these were issued and trialled in BAOR as kits but didnt work out for various reasons,hence they ended up in UK and Berlin. Emer E105/2 gives times for fitting as 2 hrs to prep and 4hrs to fit and instructions to store removed items for refitting when vehicle was backloaded for repairs.This emer is dated Sept 1973.So in a 10-15 yr period that turret could have changed vehicles a few times. I talked to a chap who was stationed with a mech inf unit mid 70s at Celle and remembers these kits arriving on their pallets,he had to go away on a signals course and when he came back they were back on their pallets. I believe there were far more than the supposed 13 kits originally made but these turrets,I believe,could have been used on the scimitars etc. If somebody out there knows any different please let me know, DaveP
  18. Buy a 434 :cool2::cool2::cool2:
  19. Barry, If you open the front hatch and look at the inside of the l/h final drive at the top you will see a small pressure relief valve.It,s the same on the r/h but not very accessible..:argh: There is only one main oil seal on the drive hub and it runs on the outside of the inner hub stopping oil coming out of the inside of the hub,all that stops it coming out of the shaft end is good fitting splines and a b----y tight nut!:sweat:bit like a lot of pinion shafts. Wouldn,t worry too much about a little bit of oil as long as the nut is F T and doesnt keep coming loose.:coffee: DaveP ps Obvious but make sure you always use lock plate and wire.
  20. There are a few pages on the installation but apart from the TUAAM which fits up in the top right hand corner directly under the aerial mount these two pics show how it goes . If you need any more info give me a shout:argh: DaveP
