  1. Mark Will you still be able to pick up Ian's roof panel if I can get it there:-) I'm going to try and sort out the L/Rover and trailer, that should be entertaining, haven't used them much since last year when I changed the engine and g/box(fitted a 300tdi):red:.All part of the adventure. DaveP
  2. Best I chuck a few spare jerry cans on board or it could be embarrasing:red::rofl:might end up having to be rescued by something American:shocking: DaveP
  3. Tony I presume it will be somewhere around the same sort of mileage as last year,I think I clocked 40 miles.. ish.:-D I don't know what Dougy's plans are, you obviously aren't talking enough dirt and filth to him,he needs more working on:n00b: All being well, I'll see you Sat morning although there's plenty of time for things to go t--s up yet:cool2: DaveP
  4. Tony Whats the plan for the weekend as regards driving out, rough mileage, etc, just need to know how much fuel etc to bring:??? Trying to be organised and it,s not working much:red: Is it right that Roy is giving away free beer the weekend:beer::rofl: DaveP
  5. My understanding was that you should be accompanied by a full licence holder and I'm sure that's the way the mod work.:nono: My experience with insurance companies and the law have shown me that if they can get out of covering you when something goes wrong they will:sweat:and leave you up sh-- creek without a paddle. I,m sure that there will be some H licences about the weekend who will be quite happy to go for a ride.:-D I,ll be there with my machine but would be quite happy to give some time to going for a jolly with someone:cool2: Put me down for the 434 1x person and transporter Dave but I won't be there until Sat,can,t have the trailer until Fri night:( DaveP
  6. Clive I agree with Chris,I also found the reg under all the paint on the front of the hull,it'll be there somewhere. DaveP
  7. Tony Dougy came up here on Saturday and we fitted a new front spring to his lorry:cool2: but he still needs working on to persuade him to come:nono:,talk dirty to him and it may just work.He might be put off by the 'no rubber' rule though, what do others think?:red:We could fit it in with the team building and crossing the river,it would certainly give Westdown something to think about:rofl::rofl::rofl: DaveP
  8. Tony I,m sure we've covered this before but do we need to bring all our vehicle docs, driving licences etc?and also what was mentioned about vehicle mounted de-acs etc.Suitable military style clobber was also mentioned?:cool2: As for vehicles,we,re now on plan C which is shoot the robin(only joking, honest):rofl:and bring the 434 with dickie starter ,dodgy intercom and a load of Plain dust from last year, and enjoy the weekend regardless:yay:,and not be put off by Roys warm beer:beer: DaveP
  9. I,ve got an injection pump for a 420 if that is any use to anyone. The 420 was the later version of the 410:o DaveP
  10. Yes Clive, there,s a small plate welded to the hull just to the left of the rear no plate lamp. However it does not resemble the veh reg in any way, mine is 42.Someone somewhere has a list of numbers to correspond that will give you the reg, maybe the Tank Museum would be a good starting point:cellphone: Sorry can't help on the data plate, mine is missing to:( Cheers DaveP ps How,s the Rapier?:-(
  11. Originally the plate was mounted on the upright panel in front of the gear change lever, however when they cut a hole in it to fit the night vision in they were obviously removed. On my 432 it is now mounted on the side panel on the left down below the drivers seat by the radio batteries.I must admit I've never looked on my 434 to see if it still has one but that still had its mil reg. There must be a hull no on it although there again I've never had to look for one,but I will now out of curiosity. On a 432 it is on the left of the rear door and actually comprises the numbers of the veh reg. It,s only a small plate about half the size of a matchbox, could be covered in layers of paint. I,ll go and have a look on mine ,you,ve got me thinking. DaveP
  12. 6 september 1966.Thats when I joined up and and was taught all the ins and outs of military vehicles, 2 yrs at AAC Carlisle.:readbook: 2 yrs later posted to 3 RGJ in BAOR equipped with new 432,s:wow: 32 yrs later end up owning one of the actual vehicles I worked on there, earie or what:shake: I appreciate it far more now than I did then, although I really regret not being interested in taking photos then.:-( Somewhere someone has a picture of it in service 17EA69 or the 434, 01ED15, that spent all its life at 32Armd Engrs DaveP
  13. :help:Plan B has today been scrapped due to the maternal instincts of a robin and her desire to set up home in the 432/30,at least she has good taste. So it,s back to the 434 and plan A,whatever that was:red::idea: Looking for inspiration(and a starter) are you sure it was under the bench Tony? DaveP
  14. Tony I'm still not ready:help:,struggled to get the truck through its annual mot,put me back a bit:whistle: and lost the plot:???,not even sure which vehicle to bring now, neither are what you may call ready to roll:red: Going to assess the situation in the morning and draw up plan B:idea:,it can't be any worse than plan A. All this makes going to work seem quite easy:coffee: I,ve also been informed that we're going away for a long weekend next week:n00b: Should be an interesting run up to the plain invasion but we,ll get there with something:cool2: See you there about August:rofl: DaveP
  15. Totally confused,I think I'm going to go and lie down in a dark room for a while,I'd only just about got the hang of the old forum. See you around DaveP
