  1. I've just checked my Hot Rod and Street Machine magazine adverts - nobody seems to offer a LIFT KIT for a Dennis :cool2:
  2. 99.9% certain the chassis rails are Bedford (style of pressed crossmember and rear helper spring bracket).
  3. I suppose you have either new springs or had the old ones re-set, Steve?
  4. Nice pic Les. More lime spreader pics please. I see the QL is on twin rear tyres - not surprising given the 5T load!
  5. Could well be - what's the main difference?
  6. Here's an ungainly Antar dumtruck closer to home - on a post war opencast coal site. And it's only carrying the equivalent of 2 or 3 overloaded Bedford 3 tonners!!! From a great book - 'Opencast Coal, Plant and Equipment' by Bill Huxley.
  7. Thanks for that explanation John - difficult to get an idea of how comparatively narrow it is from photos - the shape of the Oshkosh is quite deceptive when it comes to width.
  8. Are you suggesting this is a real possibility? Difficult to imagine a more stable load platform than this (compare it with the WW2 Pioneer and trailer :shocked:).
  9. :shocked::wow::shocked::wow::shocked::wow:
  10. A Piece of Cake (that was a difficult one ) Oh jeepers - Bodge had that on post no. 2!!!!
  11. Buffalo Wings Goodbye Lentil The Last of the Fajhitas Grow a Giant Marrow The Dunker Murphy's Bar
  12. I don't know exactly what is involved in getting a EU mark, but I imagine the cost is such that it is only worthwhile for significant sales volumes. Plastic toy - probably no problem. Tyre with all the associated liability issues - :shocked:
  13. There were some great adverts put on to an earlier thread on this subject, but I cannot find it. Don't know if it was before the crash or later, so pics may have gone. How about linking the two threads up (someone?).
  14. How about some double-billings? Batter on the riven plate, on which we serve
  15. Captain Corelli's Mandarin
  16. Also worth bearing in mind that unlike today, you could put any old wreck on the road - today it is not possible to use many surplus mvs for revenue haulage. However after the war there was the problem of not being able to get hold of operator's licences for additional lorries, let alone get hold of new vehicles, so even total heaps of cr*p which had a licence would be quite valuable - just transfer licence to nice ex ww2 truck!! Example £150 for GMC chassis cab with zero miles and just a cracked block to stitch up.... So all in all, just as difficult as it is today, just a different set of problems
  17. And for GMC fans - The Pizza Express Well they need fast food on the red ball job......
  18. The Thin Red Wine Torpedo Bun
  19. The Blue Cheese The Desert Wines The Green Beans MacArthur and Fries
