  1. I want to get there possible with the 10th Essex, trouble is it is also 70th for D-Day. If fuel keeps going up.
  2. Joris, I think by the time Ashley had finished he realised he'd lost the sale! :-D Actually some companies give you a substancial discount, others wack the premium up!
  3. MOI!! Just that I had use of one a few years back. They are coming back on sale in UK.
  4. I'm still intrested in offering support vehicle!
  5. If you take the conections off the batteries, then you should be able to charge in place. But make sure there is plenty of ventilation. Another quick and dirty way would be put jump leads from a 12 volt started vehicle onto the dead ones , rev for 5 or ten minutes, then do the other and hopefully it will start and charge itself.
  6. Yes, it's carboard goes round the neck on a pice of string and is worded 'Two Military Vehicles to feed' :-D
  7. So far a problem I've not come up against. There seem to be so many additives now for one thing and another there is hardly room for fuel in the tank! I'd suggest the best option is a good filter of about 10 microns fitted to the fuel filler pipe. Will take for ever to fill but should avoid anything nasty going into the tank. Though, I do have a Broquet catalyst in the tank. I fitted it about ten years ago when I got my Dodge and it's just in there .
  8. Funnily enough the Russians had the same sort of problems during WW2. The avation fuel had so many contaminants they were loosing more aircraft to that than enemy action. Part of the answer was found to be catalyst slugs in the bulk fuel tanks. I'd query the bit about plant cells. 'Plant cells' are as cells go huge, and how do they survive the processing the fuel goes through? A dash of Parrafin or petrol should deal with any cells. So should a filter, should also take the water out.
  9. The odd thing being you can hold the required tracked vehicle licence from 21 Mike You can now get a LGV and PCV at 18!!
  10. That sound about right. 'I just need to nip to the shop....'- 'I'll do it Dad,Dad let me get it for you..' Twelve hours and hundred miles later...
  11. According to two Britsh Newspapers the Metro and Daily Mail. Metro major 50 year storm and 54 hour Met office Weather Warning issued. Six inches of rain expected over weekend. And the Daily Mail, Summer will arrive in September. Give us back our Jetstream!!!

    Big ray

That has to be an old one! Nowadays it would have been the next door neighbour he have married.
  13. I see your point and agree, what I meant was any bio fuel content shouldn't bother the old beast. Back just after the horse and cart days we used to sling a gallon of parraffin or petrol to ten gallons of red in the tractors during winter to prvent waxing.
  14. In that case they were lucky, the bogged vehicle moved. I've seen the serious injury result of the bogged vehilce staying still, and the snatching vehicle being yanked over. The clown hit the gas, the snatching vehicle left the ground the rope yanked back and tipped the vehicle over. One dodgy bolt and there are several pounds of uncontrolled metal richocheting about.
  15. Welcome, nothing wrong with the Niva, very capable and comfortable vehicle. Far nicer ride than a Series Land Rover. Do you know the origin of the Name? A Finnish river, also the Finnish word for Mud.
  16. Remebering it's Russian Military, should run on anything flammable. I've (Touch wood) never had any problems with any fuel from anywhere in Europe I've stuck in the Dodges, or the 101 for that matter. How does the local fish and chip shop dispose of it's waste oil?
  17. No mate I hadn't. Nice idea, I'd like to keep the Jersey plates for the show ground. I'll give it try and go and have a word with a place I know in Orpington. I can't really do anything till I get the paperwork back from the Denizens of Swansea anyway. Thanks for the help everyone.
  18. Do the human race a favour, don't breed. To start with it should have been obvious to double reeve the winch on a snatch block.
  19. You can admit to owning a 101 you know. We won't laugh, much. welcome in.
  20. Welcome. WW2 staff car is relitivley easy anything from about 10 to 14 hp would have been used .
  21. I'm not going to be there. I was hoping some one might know a place that does by post.
  22. Can anyone recommend a supplier of Black and White metal number plates?
