Oh yes, forgot, there was also the obligatory bundle of trousers and shirts, 58 packs (dont need one but only £1) and a few other bits.
Fortunately getting £200 for the Ferret wheels helped out to balance the books.

The clansman in the pic??. Is it not for the manpack??
Yep, strictly thats true but one this size makes getting in and out much easier.
-
I know a lot of folks went to W+P to show their vehicle and meet up with like minded people and I enjoyed sharing a beer with mates but the best bit for me is hunting down bargains on the stalls.
So, what did you buy?
I found a working radio for the Ferret plus fitting bits for £20
A lovely condition grenade for £2
A heavy duty working belt for £4
And best of all, a beautiful cutaway revolver for more than the rest put together.....
-
Why are they being retired?
-
Paul, I have hgv rigid and articulated and tracked licences. Give me a bit more notice and I'll come along.

I took a shot to the face from someone in a ferret in the arena.:
Sorry m'lud. Honest mistake an all that........

Take your time, keep a good look out and use your indicators

I wonder how many casualties there were at W+P. I could not believe how bovinely stupid people are when they stare at you and wander right across the path of a moving AFV. I certainly heard the meat waggons a few times.
As for the little ***** on his push bike who cut across the front of the Ferret while screaming 'you should give way to me ****. Part of me wishes that I had not bothered to brake - it was very very close.
Great show all in all. Sold me Ferret wheels (spare ones, before you comment) and bought a luvverly cut away .455 colt .

Jesus H that's a big one for personal use. I was chuffed with mine and it was only an 18 inch bed.
-
He's a cut above the rest. :-D
You nearly spelled it correctly

Ferret Mk 2/3 1967
This Ferret has a full history with many extras. In good condition for age, looked after by an ex REME Lt. Col. £4000 ovno.
Included the GPMG. The guy is getting divorced, it was listed at 2200 and sold by 2359.
Gone to the southampton area - anyone on here?????

The only good thing about Roadsure is the recovery aspect. What do folks do with FMJ, go without or get something different? At least the Ferret isn't too heavy.
-
The easiest way to make a truck go faster is put Irish plates on it and drive it at a weekend from wales to Dover....

I have just had to change the gear lever centre spring on the Ferret. Everything seems to be over engineered - apart from the spring. I'm sure half a ton could be removed from the operating weight if they tried. If only the spring had been twice the thickness it would have been fine.
Also, it's like a Lotus in many ways. The bit you need to repair cannot be removed until half a dozen other pieces have come out first.
-
Nope - not around here but they have got you by the goolies really. Emails circulate about boycotting a particular supplier but it never works.
Me, I only do around 500 - 600 miles a year in the Ferret so what the heck. Smiles per mile it's worth it.

I have no idea how to wire it up! I suspect though that only 2 of the pins actually do anything. Most of these night sights have 3 or 4 pin plugs but the harness in the vehicle only has 2 wires. I had one, if I remember correctly it is Chieftain, but I sold it to someone who just wanted the image intensifiers.
Chris
Yes, I suspect it just needs 24v but I havent put a meter across it yet and I dont want to blow it. The harness from the vehicles seems to be a direct feed with no voltage reduction although another one I had briefly, used a 7.2v rechargable pack.

Very good. What I really want to know is the wiring of the input pins so I can fire it up.

garage full of crap??:coffee::rofl:
Cheek. It's all quality stuff in there
-
Too quick for me by far. Having just managed to post up a pic, for the first time, I got the wrong one (very dangerous).
Try again with the single item.
-
Ok Chaps. What's this

I may have the manual on CD. I will have a look and get back to you 'cos it would be a lot easier to send a copy than type it all out using only 1 finger.......

Are you using this for making a model or working on a real one? I can get you a lot of pictures of a rebuild but what measurements are you after?
Dave
We can't all be in Kent surely?
