  1. Be very careful if you do manage to get hold of ether. It is nasty stuff and very very volatile, you can easily cause an explosive mixture if used / stored in an enclosed area. Normally it is only sold under licence.

    Use easy start every time.

  2. Its not the moving of the vehicle that is the problem, maybe a couple of flat tyres and seized brakes, but the lady has a mound that she needs flattening! Mark was going to try the 432 but it needs something with more push.

  3. Well, neither of us had a camera when we went to see it - looks a bit sad, had been standing in a field for at least 4 years. Mark is going to pick it up sometime soon but he did run off smiling and clutching a folder full of paperwork :-D

  4. Chaps,

There is a lady at work who has an old Landrover in her field which last ran about 4 years ago. I believe ex military, it is a V8 and I think tax exempt from the age. Papers included. I can get more details.

She wants to get rid of it and has told me that there is a mound of earth in her field that she would like flattening if anyone has something to do it with?????

It is near Maidstone, Kent. Drop me a line if you are interested in it.

  5. To make it more difficult there is no photo :schocked: This is because I am having trouble putting a picture up.......I know, I know....I have read the idiots guide that was posted.

Anyway. I have rifle rounds which are case length 57mm with a flush rim at the base ie not proud like a .303

the bullet head is wood and stained purple and machined to exactly profile a round nose head.

    Case markings are: P370 IX W1 2 37

I know the country of origin and the era is 1940's but what they are for I do not know, It is not a one-off as I have several of them.

  6. Its a good job I aint holding my breath Dave !! :-D :-D ;-)

Ok Ok Ok, first of all, my computer skills are :computerterror: Then I tried to take a decent photo but need good daylight. Artificial and flash are just not getting the resolution as the round is a rifle round. Wait until the weekend 'cos its too dark when I get home.

  7. Peter, I hope you are able to buy the Ferret. I have had mine for 8 months now and it is such fun. There will be problems but there will always be an answer or help from someone on here. Dont look back and think that you had the chance but never did it.

    Good luck

    David

  8. Just close the rear hatches when it is really cold and wear goggles. :goodidea: A scarf to keep the bugs out of your teeth when you are grinning is also essential. Give my regards to Copenhagen - I got married there. The resistance museum and the weapons collection in the war museum are superb.

  9. I have had my Ferret 2/4 for several months now and derived much pleasure from it. Changing a fluid flywheel oil seal when it started leaking soon after I bought it, was the cause of a great couple of days in the workshop (Thanks John). Everyone I spoke to warned me about a mysterious disease called 'Ferret Finger'.

Who would be daft enough to catch their fingers ina hatch????

I wasn't even in it at the time but a friend was looking at it from inside and going faster than my instructions. He dropped the hatch and I stuck my hand out as a reflex. Wrong thing to do

Note to self, let them break their fingers. I have got off lightly with a bit of blood and two sausages, fortunately no breaks. F*** me, did it hurt though.
